In Diaz's D the SLB is asked to do a lot more versatile things from blitzing to covering so Grace is nearly an ideal fit in that position.

You'd like them to be a little bigger than Grace to match-up with a TE when blitzing and covering, but he'll for sure get the job done at a high level. The ideal fit is his backup at SLB, Zack Mccloud.. He'll be great there in a few years

Its not unrealeastic for freshman wrs to have major impacts their first year, Stacy Coley did it for us. Richards, Mullins, and Bruce all have the confidence and talent to be playmakers their freshman seasons as well.
 
I could see Bruce starting today. He's essentially Duke Johnson at the WR position and I expect when he comes in he'll be challenging for a starting spot.

Same. Bruce is going to get serious playing time. And wow at all 3 LB's standing out. We got the 3 horsemen it seems.

Jaquan Johnson is special. He was all over that highlight video. Pickney showed as well.

Swag16 class is a special class. It could have been legendary if it didn't fall apart. We still got studs coming in the fall.

Y'all are FAST to forget that DO was playing as a freshmen and was the dude going into his sophomore year, until that injury early on got him. . No way is Owens standing on the sideline this fall. I know for a FACT him not being able to practice is eating him alive and these coaches have no idea who he is and what he can do, and that's the part that is driving him the craziest .

This doesn't surprise me. I think the coaching change and more specifically coach Kool is the best thing to happen to Chad in terms of a potential NFL career. Chad has an insane amount of untapped potential that will be realized under this staff.

I agree with this.

I had Grace, Shaq and Owens pegged as our starters.

Pinckney stepping up at WLB might be throwing a wrench into that. I knew Pinckney was good and I mentioned a lot that I felt he should have been a 4 star on the recruiting board, but I didn't know he would be this good this early on. Shaq I expected and McCloud I expected to get in the two deep early this spring. I had projected Pinckney to be battling with Perry for a spot behind Grace. (Grace is now at SLB)

We might be better off at LB than we originally thought.


Not putting Young down as I like him and he did well last season, and I was told he did well in the scrimmage regardless of Pinckney outshining him yesterday.

I'm not shocked Young was moved to OLB. I see it as a better fit, not really a cerebral guy. You want cerebral at MLB, that's the guy making all the checks and adjustments and mostly the brain of the defense. He's athletic, can really run and hit but he's where he should be position wise at OLB. I was told this same thing I just said, last offseason from someone who was at almost every practice and he posts here.

I was expecting Owens to have a good year as a sophomore but unfortunately that was cut short against FAU. Things are going to get very interesting at LB when he gets back.

This competition is only going to make the group better. I don't see Owens as a MLB and I don't see Grace letting go of the SLB spot(Excited for McCloud to learn behind him at SLB this year). So the WLB spot is about to become even more competitive.

Just a reminder, off of mat drills. Perry was starting at WLB when spring started so Pinckney has really made an impression on the coaches as he started out #3 on the depth chart at WLB when spring practice started.

Well I originally had Owens, Grace and Young as starters but I didn't expect young to move to OLB. Young had a great year last year, as soon as Kirby went down he played like an animal and I believe like one play later he had an INT. Also remember him suplexing a few players. Owens is a beast but not being able to go 100% is hurting him for sure. I'm just happy we have a two deep full of savages. Quarterman is the next beason. Pinckney is a bull, reminds me of Rocky McIntosh

Very excited about this! Jaquan had one of the best tapes I had ever seen. Also, he was one of the first if not the first player to be named 1st Team all Dade four times, very impressive. He was always around the ball in high school you cant beat his instincts at safety. In this system he will be able to use his instincts again. Cant wait to see him all over the field! One of my favorite recruits in years.
