I wasn't there personally but I had some people who were(with recruits) and they relayed to me what they saw from the scrimmage.

Some notes I gathered -

Kaaya looked very good. Rosier didn't play too well.

Walton ran the most with 1st team, then Yearby after him. Staff loves both of their abilities to make plays in the passing game as well. Gus came in on a lot of 3rd and short and goaline situations.

Coley looks stronger and it's helping him. He was dominant. Cager looked good as well. They're two best at WR. We need more speed at WR, outside of Coley, not much. Berrios looked solid.

Njoku was Njoku. Dobard looks to be in better shape and it's helping him.

OL still has work to do.

Norton is our best Dtackle by far.

They're rotating a lot of guys next to Norton at DT.

Willis was very disruptive although he rotated with the others.

AQM was disruptive despite not showing on stat sheet.

AQM has been in Chads ear a lot this spring. Chad has untapped potential and AQM and Kool driving it into his ear to step up. Chad stepped up to the task during the scrimmage.

Grace has stood out at all spring at LB but even more notable is the three freshman LBs who came in. McCloud has been working behind Grace at SLB and has done well but is still nursing a shoulder injury. While Shaq has been working for quite a few practices already at 1st team MLB and has really impressed the coaches already. Pinckney has been rotating with Juwon Young at 1st team WLB and from what I was told and the word going around, Pinckney is making a strong case to be the starter there as well. They like what they see from Pinckney in coverage as well. Juwon did good as well but Pinckney stood out Saturday, even getting some recognition from recruits.

Surely things will get interesting once Darrion Owens gets back but the three amigos at LB who came in are already making a statement early on. Expect a lot of early play time for them.

I was told from a family source close to Shaq "Shaq is excited, he said they will have to take the MLB job from him now because he's not going to give it up!"

Corn did very well and is continuing to be the leader at corner. Him & Stacy were really going at it.

Redwine & Jackson are making strides but still work to be done. Although some catches were made, Redwine did well. Henley needs work.

Jaquan Johnson is starting to turn up the heat. He has been working with the first team at safety as well as some Nickel packages. He was all over the field during the scrimmage. Miami is looking to maximize his ability by using him in multiple spots this year.

Jamal Carter is benefitting from this scheme as it suits his play style. He played well yesterday.

Some texts that were sent to me of plays that happened yesterday -

"
Yearby fumbled and Defense ran it back for TD already. (Shaq with the forced fumble, Grace ran it back)

Walton is havin nice runs already

Lot of trash talk going on!

Coley just caught a bomb with Redwine blanketing him

Yearby with a 30 yard run.

3rd pass knocked down by DLine. Defense very aggressive early on.

Malcolm Lewis with nice catch.

Walton with 1 hand catch. He's been running a lot with the first team.

Walton had his head almost ripped off Facemask

Norton just body slammed Walton. Coach Kool getting very fired up!

Gus coming in on a lot of goaline and 3rd and short.

Cager with 1 hand TD grab.

Braxton with nice toe tap grab.

DLine as a whole was really aggressive! OL needs to pick it up! Kaaya being Kaaya nothing lost in performance w/ new HC! Coley looks Big and catching w/ hands...him and Cager good 1-2 punch! Walton and Yearby when OL helps looked good! LBs playing Up field making QB or RB react instead of LBs reacting!! Even though balls were caught Redwine seemed to be all in the WRs azzes, Elder playing well, too!"

Good stuff, Geo.
Thanks!

Hope Willis gets the job next to Norton. Also hope Chad steps up. Aqm, Norton, Willis and Chad all playing 100% is the best Dline in the conference

Geo, good stuff! I also heard Shaq and Pinckney played really well. Also heard that Shaq and Gordinier actually blitzed quite a bit both were close to the QB several times.
Heard the Shirreffs is making very good decisions out there and is like a good pt guard in basketball in that he does not turnover the ball very frequently.
Gotta keep Coley healthy as he can be a game changer this year ESPECIALLY when the new WR's show up this summer. Just like the LB's, I think the young WR's are going to get on the field.

Thanks Geo. By far, this is the most detailed and helpful summary of the scrimmage. Great stuff.

Best Dline in Nation!.... Our entire 2 deep getting drafted.

U might be joking, but they all might play in the NFL.

No I'm dead *** serious.. With Coach Kool this is the best DL in the nation or can be. There isn't a player in the rotation that doesn't have NFL talent.

I wonder why they moved Juwon Young to weak side. But if Quarterman starts at MLB I wouldn't even care. **** we got some good *** LB's this season. I predict the lineup will be Young, Quarterman, Grace with Owens, Pinckney, McCloud rotating in

Starting DLine consists of two five stars (Chad and Willis) and two high four stars (Norton and AQM). Probably the most talent Coach Kool has had on a DLine based off rankings. Wouldn't be surprised to see them all flourish with Kool being one of the best DLine coaches (if not thee best) in the country

Salute to all the Nole fans reading this too. I know there's at least 30 of them patrolling Miami boards like it's their job. Weird group of people

I thought I heard Richt say it was pretty even between oline and dline in the scrimmage. Sounds like progress has been made along the oline. It's more an issue of consistency.

I really hope Coley and Cager stay healthy this year otherwise the WR group gets a little scary depth wise. Richards, Bruce, and Mullins coming in will be great but to expect them all to be big contributors as freshmen is unrealistic.

Also Jaquan Johnson will be a break out star this year. Shaq wins defensive rookie of the year.
