Look, I'm not one of those "fire the coach" guys who throws a fit after every loss. I will say that we need to seriously consider hiring a dedicated special teams coach. Poor special teams play from botched punt returns, to missed field goals to friggin' blocked extra points (seriously who gets an XP blocked?) Have cost us both games so far. It's pathetic. The problem is, someone has to get fired/demoted in order to hire a special teams coach and both top candidates are Manny BFFs. As far as I'm concerned Patke or Banda are completely expendable. Why the **** do we have a safeties coach? Especially when those in the know say Rumph is doing all the actual coaching in the DB room. Patke is a linebacker coach who doesn't actually coach linebackers. I mean a coaching spot just for the striker position? Seems kind of pointless.

We're not good enough as a team to just "punt" on special teams coaching (pun intended). Something has to be done

I'm definitely in favor of a FT special teams coordinator but we'll see how Manny goes about it, he fired the old offensive staff, but as you said it'll be interesting to see if he's savage enough to can his boy Patke. Banda I don't think is going anywhere.
 
No argument from me. The one thing I can guarantee is that it won't make it worse.
