Not playing in the Acc championship game

After watching Pitt miss a 26 yard field goal and being really upset about it, it got me thinking. If and this is a big if, Miami can beat FSU and win out, is it really a bad thing for us not to play in the ACC champ?

We would have to play FSU again which means we will probably lose. It is very hard to beat a college team twice, especially a team as talented as FSU. If we win out and miss the ACC champ than we can win a bowl game and have all the momentum along with telling recruits we beat FSU. If we play FSU again and lose on National TV it could take away from what we did earlier in the year.

Thoughts?

This always crops up and my answer is always - absolutely, if you have a chance to play the game, play it. It's more of a recruiting hit to say we ONCE AGAIN missed out on the title game than it would be to get there and lose. Get there by any means necessary.

Why would anyone want any scenario where we don't go to the ACC championship game?

OP already started this stupid thread today in the recruiting board & got locked

Apparently this team and staff needs actual real games to 'get it' and 'mature' to get better. Off-season practice doesn't seem to work. So we need as many games as possible to get better.

As long as we beat them once this year I could careless. We can lose Nov. 15 and beat them in the ACC Champ. Or win Nov. 15 and lose in the ACCCG. ****, who knows we might lose both or win both.

Tough crowd. Just searching for a way to stay optimistic and not go crazy if we win out and so does Duke. Winning 7 in a row while beating the best team in the country who happens to be your rival along with a good bowl win would carry just as much weight as winning the coastal but losing to FSU in my opinion. I understand that on the surface it sounds ridiculous but when the season is over and we look back on it I think it's worth a discussion.

The pre-season goal, with the level of talent on this roster, was to finally win the Coastal division. Winning out would be great but well short of the goal. Good for recruiting, yeah, but a waste of the talent on this team. Inexplicably not being properly prepared for GT was reckless/suicidal. We gift-wrapped a 2nd division title to Duke should they now win out. BTW, Coastal Champs has a nice ring to recruits.

As far as your 2nd point, two hard fought games against F$U (but really against any top 10 team) in primetime, championships or big bowls is where we need to be.

You should go crazy. The dip****s in charge couldn't beat a GT team we have dominated for several years that run the same ***-clown TO offense while Duke and UNC were able to beat them. ****, they at least were able to have a much higher time of possession.

Poor coaching and preparation is the only reason we're not sitting at the top of the Coastal right now. It was easily ours to win, and we just didn't do it.

With that being said, a win against FSU and a quality bowl win will be the first step toward redemption.

A lot is going t happen for us to even consider the ACC Champ game.
Duke only has 1 loss, and has Cuse, UNC, VT and Wake left. All very winnable
GT has NC State, Clemson without Watson and UGA which is out of conference
And we have FSU , Pitt and UVA. FSU (maybe 15% ) chance for a win, and Pitt and UVA could be hard games.

It will take a miracle for us to make ACC Champ game.
