Not even getting a 1st year bump

remind me again please what any of those coaches did with those recruiting classes.....

Not much, but....

Shannon's 3rd Year - Miami was a 9 win team that was ranked #8 at one point
Golden's 3rd Year - Miami was a 9 win team that was ranked #7 at one point

If this years team can't get 9 wins - and we're restocking talent with recruiting classes that can't crack the Top 20 - then the math doesn't look good for Manny.

Manny Diaz is so far worse than AG its not even comparable. And AG was wretched garbage.

Diaz should be coaching HS football, hes that clueless.

LMAO, and Richt was 10-0 and ranked number 2 at one point. Where did we end up then, and where did we end up each of the seasons you referenced above?

This corch and his staph are so miserable they arent even getting the classic first year bump in recruiting.

Randy Shannon pulled the #1 class after his first season. Manny is going to finish outside of the top 20.

So the worst on field coach we have ever had is also the worst recruiter we have ever had.

This experiment HAS to end for the sake of brand. New coordinators, new athletic department etc etc but Manny HAS to be removed. Anything short of that is unacceptable.
1st year bumps are from alumni w/ bags...we dont have them

Our record dictates what actions will be taken.....A lot of $$$$'s involved, but the image of the U, and the program is at stake....
They will only let it go for only so long, before acting.........
No one knows the length of the rope........

All eyes are going to be on how many 2020 season tickets are sold. That may cost Blake James his job, and likely many assistant coaches. Diaz will remain due to his buyout.

This is potentially Miami's biggest problem IMO

Here's the recruiting class rank our Head Coaches the year they took over (a month or 2 before signing day) & after their full year as Head Coach

Coker - 8th / 5th
Shannon - 13th / 1st
Golden - 33rd / 10th
Richt - 22nd / 12th
Manny - 27th / 17th (as of today)

Still time to turn it around before signing day - but it's not trending well right now.

If Manny can't get it done on the field or in recruiting - then Miami will be an even less attractive job than it was the last 5 times we hired a new Coach.

Cmon why do you think this trends down?

When Shannon took over we were 5yrs removed from a natty, 4 years from playing in one, the NFL pro bowl was full of our alumna, and we basically had just fallen out of perrenial top 10. Those kids watched us play in 2 nattys while they were in middle school.

For the last 10 years, weve basically been GT or Duke. No 16 year old remembers anything else.

Even if we do fire Diaz, then we are just going to get another below average hire. No coach wants to come to a program that has been failing for 15 years.

Good then I suggest not renewing them if the result is Blake James being fired and actually getting a real AD in there that knows football and demands a winner.

Every coach ends up in the same place.

My point is Shannon, Golden, Richt - all had their moments where it felt like we might be "back".

If Manny can't win while the talent Richt recruited is still here, and he's re-stocking with #20 type recruiting classes - then Manny won't even have that "moment".

It’s going to be a long ride for some of you. This much pessimism isn’t good for your mental health. You should root for Clemson or Bama until this thing gets right.

Lol its not healthy but I think the reason why everyone is so down goes back to the hiring process people wouldn't be this upset if we would have attempted at a real process people would be taking this season differently. But when you hire someone off the previous staff and then spend all offseason hyping up this team you create false expectations. So here we are five games in and the fan base is pretty much at a worst spot than we were just a year ago.

Totally agree - no kid we're recruiting now only knows Miami as nothing more than above average ACC team.

But...
Shannon got the #1 class coming off a 5 win season
Golden got the #10 class coming off a 6 win season, still in the middle of the cloud, when Miami had won 7 or less games 5 of their last 6 seasons
Richt got the #12 class when Miami hadn't been a 10 win team in the last 13 straight years

It wasn't an easy sell for any of those guys. And Manny's recruiting class keeps trending the wrong way. You'd just expect that first year bump to be giving us more juice than it is - which is a bad sign.

I think youre underestimating the importance of the first point.

When golden took over, there was a cloud, but we were also a sleeping giant. EVERYONE thought we were a sleeping giant that had a bad five years. Our alumni were dominating in the NFL. The thought was once we have a moderately competant coach we'll go back to competing for championships every year.

That belief has been dispelled. Miami is now seen as a UCLA type team. Sure theyre in a fertile recruiting ground, but they've also been mediocre for so long that people, and especially kids that never witnessed miami greatness, start to view Miami as a UNC or GT type team.

What would be the point of getting rid of Manny if we still have one of the worst Athletic Departments in the country?

I have zero confidence about anyone picking our next coaching staff unless people up top are removed.

That's true but more details are needed in understanding this. When Shannon took over, it was only a few years removed from being nationally relevant. Not just NC but being ranked high and going to competitive bowls.

Since Diaz took over we have had one double digit season in 15 years and no ACC titles since joining. Assuming a top 10 recruiting bump for us when our competitive history is getting farther away, is not realistic.

I totally agree the further we get away from our NC years, the harder and harder it gets to recruit. But I think people are acting like recruiting well can't be done, when it can.

Golden's first 3 classes were in the 10-15 range. Richt's first 2 classes were 12 & 8. Those recruits didn't remember Miami's glory years either.

Neusheisel had the #13 class and Jim Mora had the #7 class their first years at UCLA. UCLA was just as far removed from their best seasons.
