Not A Single One Of Us

Highly respect his decision.

As stubborn as he may be, he understood that it was in the best of interest for his legacy and our beloved program.

Now the page and the respective hot seat turns to Blake and the decision that he makes.

Can’t thank him enough for what he did. His name will always be on the football offices and I’m sure he’ll have any access to the facilities he wants. He’s doing the right thing. I’m sure it wasn’t easy to step down and give up your buyout, if that is actually the case like some have reported

Should ever utter a bad word about Mark Richt.

He came here, helped get a lot of things done. Once it became apparent to him that the game has passed him by and he wasn’t capable of performing at a level that warranted his contract, he retired.

Instead of hanging around and stealing money, forcing banners to fly, turning the program into a toxic state of disarray, he looked in the mirror and admitted to himself that he can’t cut it anymore and left.

He just saved us 2 years and a much bigger hole to rebuild out of for this one. Thanks to Mark Richt for manning up and doing the right thing.
AMEN!

I had hope and truly believed he would be a great coach here, but it does look like the game passed him by. he figured that out and said enough is enough. Solid individual and he made the right decision for himself, his school and his family.

No call it what it is, the game didn't pass him by...... he was a stubborn f00l....the fix was simple... get rid of his buddies and hire a good staff

I fully respect the man. He knows the game has passed him by. Although it screams terrible coach, he would rather retire than fire people he cares about. Says alot about him as a man.

Nothing but respect for Rick now. He could have put the screws to UM and completely buried us. Now, it’ll be up to Schiano or Chudzinski to put the final shovels full of dirt on our budget casket.

We have to give Butch a chance. He would come in like a pack of furies.

Ohhh you know it’s goung to be a **** show of a coaching search!
I’m fully prepared for Shannon round two!

I think he would have forced a buyout if he wanterd to be petty....It seems like he did the honorable thing

He may have been given an ultimatum concerning an OC and his son. He didn't like it so it may have turned into a retire or be fired situation. He probably didn't want to be fired from his school.

This could very well be true.
Instead of firing his son he retired.
He could have been vindictive and royally screwed us.

Been stated 100 times but I’ve got nothing but respect for how he ended this. Thanks Coach and good luck in the next phase of your life.

I think Richt understood the growing animosity and what he would face next season. Three years ago at a basketball game this time of year Richt showed up and was greeted with rousing applause. At yesterday's obscure home game versus Campbell I had one nearby fan after another tell me they were not renewing football season tickets for next year. And for the most part these are alums in their 50s through 70s. We spent more time talking about the miserable football prospectives than the basketball game itself.

I despise the Gators but give them some credit for this. If Richt had any lingering doubt toward his decision that Florida manhandling of Michigan yesterday may have pushed him over the edge. Richt saw how Golden was treated and knows darn well the banners and vultures would have been everywhere upon a loss to Florida.

If this were a different era without social media, and in a program with lower expectations, I don't think for one minutes that Richt retires. He still wants to coach. And I think he could take a job at a lower program within a few years, like John Robinson finishing his career at UNLV or Frank Solich at Ohio. These guys are coaches first and foremost. I don't blame them for taking those lower tier jobs. It is self-satisfying even if others mock them for it.

He gave me VT and Notre Dame back to back and joyous tears. He gave us hope. He gave us the IPF, really. He should be revered for this. Name a cot dam building after the man.

I wish it would have worked out for him. I was looking forward to seeing him with a Natty. We'll always have ND on Thursday night. Much respect Coach.
