Diaz was a bad hire regardless of who FSU hired. Any one of us would have said “Maybe DON’T promote the DC on the downward slide. Also DON’T hire the HC whose best gig was Temple. Those failed in very recent memory. “

what does anything you just listed have to do with the quality of the Norvell hire?

There are serious structural problems at FSU right now. That’s irrelevant to whether Norvell is a good coach.

If UMass hired Nick Saban tomorrow it would be a great hire, regardless of the structural problems there that would stop him from winning.
 
of course umass hiring saban tomorrow is a great hire, he brings instant credibility to the program and kids will flock to play for him. that's not norvell. they needed an urban/stoops type hire to right this thing in the next year or 2 and fix recruiting. norvell doesn't do that.

None of those guys could fix FSU that fast. There are serious structure issues there.

once again, most of us are saying this is a “good hire.” You coming in with the dynamite drop in, “it’s not a great hire,” is irrelevant to that.
 
Norvell is a very good coach but he does have a bigger mess on his hands than I even thought. I predicted 8 wins next year and then 10 plus wins a year. The roster and culture are so bad, though, that I may revise next year to 5-6, then 8-9 then 10+ in year 3.

There are so many issues at FSU right now from culture to finances that I’m not sure any coach could fix it in a year or 2.
But anybody judging the hire by that one year fix as to whether it was a “good hire” is being willfully ignorant.
 
We have very similar issues to FSU. Undisciplined team that is poorly coached on both sides of the ball. Richt did a number of things I have issue with but in 2017 we executed fundamentals. We still had some of the fundamental football skill the couple of years. We will know the extent of Diaz’s fraud next year when the players with institutional memory of sound football starts aging out.

You are absolutely correct. We just made a BAD hire

This has little to do with FSU...its about doing what's best for Miami's future.

When a Doctor and relatives sees that chemotherapy is NOT working and actually making a patient worse...none in their right mind says well just keep trying it, it'll get better.

Not if you have any love for the patient....otherwise its torture

Is he a good coach ? Sure , but this is way bigger than some x and o ****. That place is a complete circus and pretty much needs a huge douching.

He’s about to see some **** he’s never seen before.
 
Larry Coker beat Bobby Bowden, build the right team, who cares about the coach for the op.
 
we can agree to disagree. I think an urban or stoops can go out and secure commits and recruits from top players at several positions. kids who could come in immediately and provide depth if not start. I think someone like urban could go in and turn that around in a year or 2. gut the roster of the cancers and generate millions in donations and increased ticket sales. norvell isn't doing that.

remainmack obviously an fsu fan. lol. 10 wins with norvell.
 
Love their hire. They will continue to suck and keep Miami company in irrelevancy.

True but now at FSU he has the recruiting grounds and money to get a good DC for once.

FSU will always have athletes. Taggart failed bc he was running a daycare center with circus time at recess.

As long as we are winning single digit games every year (especially going .500), I don’t really care if FSU beats Miami tbh. When we’re at our best, nothing else matters.
