Norton Gone

Our fans are an embarrassment. These guys made a decision based on their personal circumstances and goals and our ungrateful fans are now hating on them for leaving to go make a living for themselves and their families. They are no guarantees they will stay healthy if they stayed and no guarantees they're NFL stock would increase.

Why can't you all be decent people and wish them the best without any negative name calling. Its easy to say you would stay, but if you had the talent they have you wouldn't be on a message board disrespecting the players the way you do.

SAD......JUST SAD!

Well mostly because I'm a Hurricane fan not a player fan, so I selfishly want whats best for the team/program. I'm also one of those people who could care less about what a guy does in the pros. Point blank he made a dumb decision that he'll likely regret.

..................

Im happy for him. Don't agree with the decision but I hope he balls out and makes a ton of money the next 10 years.

What an idiot.

Why is he an idiot? kid wants to get paid, wouldn't you want to be paid as well?

These guys all get paid. Big Time paid obviously, even more than the league minimum.

"The 4-year minimum base salaries for players in this year's draft are as follows: $465,000 (Year 1), $540,000 (Year 2), $615,000 (Year 3), $690,000 (Year 4). If eventually signed to a contract, each rookie drafted will get a 4-year deal, whereas undrafted rookies are only eligible for 3-year contracts."

That's more scratch than all but a handful on this board at most will make in a short span I would bet. I bet there's a bunch who won't even make that pre-tax as well in their working life.

Yes, there is no garauntee he'll make a team. Same as there is no garauntee that his draft status would be elevated next year. Nor is there any assurance that he would go injury free through the year.

I would love to have him back next year, but I would have to think a lot of analysis has happened to come to this decision. He already saw his numbers drop this year from last and was injured some last year. Then you have to look at who is in the draft next year, etc.

Sure, there are a bunch of variables, but it is what it is. I personally would love to be in his potential earnings bracket.

Also, to those who say he would finish his degree, he can do that for free at anytime.

Whats his projection? 6th round - Undrafted free agent? He would have a significantly better shot of making a career out of football if he came back to school, improved his stock, and got drafted higher.

When team's are cutting players to get to the 53 man roster a player projected where he is supposed to go doesn't have much room to **** up.

Your god**** right I would want to get paid. If Norton wanted to do the same he would have stayed for his senior year got his degree to insure his future and get drafted alot higher. Not bet on your self and potentially be done playing the game of football or in the CFL at this time next year. To bad Forston couldn't talk sense into him

Bama routinely gets DL to come back that are projected alot higher then Norton. That is one of the reasons for their success. We couldn't convince a dude that had every reason to come back to school to do so. This needs to change for us to be "elite".

Huge loss for us, no doubt. But I don't know how much he would've helped his stock by staying. He's a big body that will occupy OL to allow LBs to make plays, will probably be a rotational guy for a few years & might just be better off getting paid a year earlier. RJ, on the other hand, has a much higher ceiling & would improve his stock significantly with another year in the weight room.

Posters put through meat grinder pertaining to Norton and Mcintosh. Initially information revealed both are leaving. Then some doubt crept in about their decision. Recently rumors that they both may stay. But late this afternoon both announced they are entering draft. My thoughts are that when we were in our glory years, when under grads left or seniors left, our motto was RELOAD. We may not have yet have reached the point where we can easily replace key people leaving. But until we can we will not be an elite team. Bama, Oklahoma, Ohio state and a few others are now able to RELOAD. Let’s hope we can attain that luxury again and join the elite teams.
