Noles vs Gators Poll

We may not be playing the gator any more, but we are still in an ongoing recruiting rivalry with them, and we still have to deal with their fans.

3 reasons:

The Flop
The fact that they think they're high and mighty being in the SEC
The most delusional fan base in the history of sports
We've played Florida 9 times in the last 38 years. We've played FSU, well, you guessed it, 38 times. Not sure why everyone is so obsessed with someone we don't even play. But then again, I don't live in Florida, so I don't have to deal with either of their fanbases on a regular basis.

Gotta say FSU, whoever came up with delusi-Noles naied it.
I've never seen a team talk so much **** after going 2-10.
The amount of them I've seen on SM since last weekend saying they're going to "blow Miami out" is really quite impressive.

We do play them in other sports.

Edit: also recruiting is a big thing.

It will always be the Noles for me. I had to suffer during my time living in Tallahassee when we went 0-7 between 2010-2016. I still remember FSU fans making fun of me walking out of the stadium in 2015 during Al Goldens last year. Watching those pieces of shxt lose will always bring me joy.

FSU never ducked us.

FSU joined the ACC in 1991 because in large part Bobby Bowden wanted to duck SEC competition

As an independent/ACC program, Noles needed the Canes on the schedule for ticket sales and TV/exposure purposes

If FSU had taken Roy Kramer's offer and joined the SEC, at some point Miami would've been dropped from the schedule for the exact same "reasons" as UF

When FSU joins the SEC in the next few years and if we don't, there's 0.0% chance the UM-FSU rivalry continues on an annual basis

The rivalry's been great. I'm gonna hate to see it go on hiatus

As a general matter, I have for decades disliked Gator fans and their program more than I have disliked FSU. But I despise both.

The differences that once existed between Noles and Gators are largely blurred and irrelevant at this point.

FSU is also our archrival.

While the Gators are absolutely hateable and hated, it's the FSU game I want to win more. I think that is the more important takeaway.

The last line is key.

I assure you that there is NOTHING more irritating in college football than dealing with Gators when they're good. They are the worst winners you'll ever come across.

I've always hated UF more. As an old man, I've given FSU a little more respect because I've seen parallels in how the two teams/programs reached success. We were both independents and like us, FSU under Bowden would play anyone, anywhere without a promise of a return home game. The Gators never did that and started ducking us and wouldn't leave the state to play OOC games from like 1991 until recently. I will say, though, living in Tally and hearing their fans talk so much recently is starting to wear on me!

Man the Gators WANT to be a rival - a legit rival. But when you look at the FACT that in the 11 games we have played since 1986 the Gators have won only 2 - are they really a rival?

Equal and depends who's better at the time.

But not sure I hated anymore more than Tebow era Gators

Because I am old enough to know and I can read a map. We were playing the stinking Gators for 21 years before they ever played FSU. Because I know we were throwing Gators through glass doors and windows before my time. Because the winner did keep the Seminole War Canoe Trophy. The Florida Cup or State Round Robin isn't the same and don't happen a lot not. This is a simple one.
