My level of respect is solely based on them not dodging us(UF). Past that, they need to lose every game they play.

They couldn't afford to dodge us because they needed to have a recruiting footprint in soFla. fsu has always been at their peak when they have been able to dominate soFla recruiting, usually during times of trouble and turmoil at UM. They cannot survive recruiting their backyard as their primary source. The numbers aren't there and the few are not too far from the SEC schools. Conversely, uf doesn't have to put us on their schedule as they are in the middle of state with regards to recruiting strongholds (Tampa, Jax, Orlando) and closer to soFla than the school in trailer trailerhassee. Also, they are the flagship school of the state just like UTexas, OleMiss, LSU, etc. There is something to be said about this. Even in their scandal and/or coaching plagued eras, they will still have formidable recruiting classes. Not so with fsu.

So, in short, I give fsu no credit in keeping us in our schedule.

I’m not delusional, if Mario didn’t play here he wouldn’t have entertained us for a second. And that’s FSU’s biggest issue. There’s really no elite coach or recruiter who would accept the daunting prospect of rebuilding that place. As good as Schumann or Weiss could be, they’ve never been HC before. So it’s a gamble. No sitting P4 coach with real success is leaving for that place. The most “successful” coach who could land there is realistically probably Manny. And as good, by Duke standards, as he’s been he wasn’t good here. I also think it will be a difficult sell to that fanbase taking the guy we fired to get the coach that restored us. They are in a horrendous situation and I’m going to enjoy watching that place implode.

Just think...

Manny is F$U's Mario...

And we fired Manny because he sucked...

I used to sort of respect them during the 1970s and 1980s because like us, we were upstart independents slaying the so-called Blue Bloods and
I appreciated our Florida athletes staying home (UM) or at least remaining in state.
But it all changed after we got hit with sanctions, watching how sanctimonious POS Bowden, his staff and fans handled and exploited our troubles.
Eff them and their kinship BS.
Same here. I respected them in the late 80's and the early 90's because I was told Miami respected FSU. I didn't know any better. I was young and dumb. Now, I'm just old and dumb. Ok, all jokes aside I did respect FSU because I thought that was the right thing to do. I also liked their style of play. They were tough and intimidating, just like Miami. That also changed for me during our sanctions.

I had somewhat stopped liking them around '95 or so, but I didn't hate them and I was still ok with them being good. The beat down they gave us in '97 accelerated everything and it was at that point I lost all respect and really started to hate them. Even with the lack of social media back then, I realized FSU hated us and had no respect for us. They didn't want us to be good, nor did they need us to be good. They wanted to bury us. I still hated several teams more than FSU. Teams like ND, Nebraska, Tennessee, VT, UF, and others. 2000 was the final nail in the coffin. After they were picked over us for the BCS championship, they went from just a hated team to my most hated team.

Holy crap. I saw some idiots on IG the other day (Canes) arguing that the FSU/Miami rivalry is like family, and we’re like brothers who respect and love each other. I usually leave all that social media crap alone but I had to step in with that one.
There are some teams you hate as an intellectual choice. ND should be hated. It just makes sense rationally.

Rivalry hate is not like that. If you asked me why I hate FSU I wouldn't even understand the question. It would be like asking a fish what he thinks about the water.

If I cared enough to learn how I'd post the shot in "From Dusk til Dawn" of Hayek telling Clooney he'll be licking from her boot heel (which, to be clear. I would). These fu ks should be happy to get any of our potential scraps.

Sick man. He specifically had that scene written into the movie because he is a foot fetishist.

Hate to see an injury for any team, even our enemy. Was he really going to be a factor this season? He played a few snaps in the NMSU game and didn't do anything. I can't recall if he played against SMU. Didn't he also miss his entire senior year due to an ACL injury? You miss 2 years in a row due to injury, not a good sign.

Norvell there is basically Shannon into Golden. About the same amount of time there as our combination of those two. Except they had no moment of hope with a coaching change halfway through . They are in the depths of **** 🤣

If they get Jimbo that is basically us getting Richt. It is an inbetween coach. Will take YEARS to get back to relevancy, and many more after that to ever reach national championship contention (ASSUMING they get the right guy after Jimbo)

I’d love for their hire to be manny. Manny is fine and his deal works at a place like Duke but if he tried to recruit the top kids like fspoo wants the culture will go to crap. They’re gonna have to go g6 hunting

The difference lies in NIL. Raising enough money to fund buyouts and new coaching staff is one thing, but layer on top of that another $40mm/year in NIL and it becomes virtually impossible for FSU to return to prominence for the foreseeable future — doesn’t matter who they hire. The dollars just aren’t there unless they mortgage Doak.

Need an electrician or three before that mortgage will be underwritten/funded LOL. Might have upgraded urinals but no lights usually a bad sign.

Possibly. Not so long ago we were also dead broke. I think with the right leader in charge, money has a way of being miraculously discovered.

For that to happen they will need a real window of opportunity.

What that looks like:

1) A true leader to take over as a school president, AD, or even a GM like position, and he has to get the school and city FULLY behind him. Needs to have serious credibility.
2) A complete uprooting of the athletic department by said leader. As of now it is a clown show.
3) A coach out there that is proven, who WANTS to make FSU great. Ideally an alum or someone with real ties to the program. Someone that wouldn't leave for a better program and considers FSU a dream destination to stay at.
4) Said coach has to be available when the job opens. They don't have the luxury to make a "decent hire". Their next hire HAS to be the right one if they want serious investment.
5) All 4 of these pieces above have to be fully worked out behind the scenes, so when the fundraising begins, they have a fully established plan, with proof of concept, and can truly sell it to their boosters.

If all 5 happen at once, they will find the money. All 5 of these happened at once for Miami. In the span of a week, we went from a clown show, to a serious serious program.

The odds of all of this happening for them anytime soon are incredibly low.
