I'm the only female maude! Was kind of being sarcastic with you about not like the Wire it’s just I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone say they hated it but all shows aren’t for everyone as witnessed by me not liking Dexter which everyone seems to rave about.
As for a Chris writing his novel I know what it was about but to e that was a part of the episodes that I just think could have been done in a little better way and it just seemed to drag on for me but again everyone has a different opinion about things.
And as far as this cluttering up this thread I agree but it’s a LOT better than the one from this morning but your still my favorite female Maude…Have a Very Blessed holiday weekend young lady
@RVACane ...you've got some 'splainin' to do!Not true….

Ok here’s the follow up…. (Why I asked why):Very cool info and story.
Curious - you a fan of Hunter S Thompson? If so, why?
(Under 2 paragraphs please)
I’ll explain after.
Yes. 1000%. Why? You have to ask WHY?
Serious answer...I'm the first of 5 kids, but one of my best friends was the last of 5 kids and was introduced to HST by one of his older brothers. He told me about ****'s Angels and the Fear and Loathing books. Read all three books when I was in high school and have been hooked ever since. I was a Politics (and Finance) major at UM, and HST's description of being a political junkie fits me too. I know that I come nowhere close to HST's best writing, but I try to channel his outrage and colorful language when I post.
Hunter Thompson was the S**t, back in the day. Still relevant today. Unfortunately, today, a lot of younger people don’t read, not just HST, but anything over 144 characters. It’s a sad commentary on our society, but explains a lot about why we are here as America 2026.F**king Mopes or just people willfully ignoring the collapse of America as we know it.Ok here’s the follow up…. (Why I asked why):
Do you think HST was truly talented or is more revered for his tales of drunken/drug-induced debauchery? In other words, how much do you think his druggy culture theme has propped him up? I’ve always been kinda neutral toward him and curious what a smart fan would say.
Yeah I guess I called you smart - don’t let it go to your headRemember: My ego is not my amigo.
I also realize I’m derailing this, so feel free to DM if you think in knots more appropriate.
So here’s my bottom line. I think he’s fine; but I swear to God when I lived in PB County, every single younger person I met who ever mentioned HST did so with a reverence that was only outmatched by the number of stints they had in rehab. I grew annoyed with that younger fanboy culture.Hunter Thompson was the S**t, back in the day. Still relevant today. Even the hot SEC schools have bandwagon fans. UF calls theirs the Disney Gators, and during the Tebow years people from all over were wearing Gator shirts. Then a couple years later, they ditched them for Bama shirts. Then ten years later, they bought UGA shirts. We certainly have a substantial bandwagon base and, worse, we have some folks who float between UM, FSU or whatever school is hot at the moment. I don't get it.
But I am always amused at Noles poking fun at our fan base when there fans are pretty bad showing up to games when they are not rolling. They are not at the level of the SEC in that regard as they believe to be.

People are scared that they’ll be back to buying ours again soon.
Yup, I was in NYC for law school from 2007-2010, and that’s part of what I was referring to when I was talking about the people who became Gators but then switched to Bama suddenly. It was hilarious.Lol at the "Disney Gators".
I have a relative in NYC, whose husband is a sports fan. For years he told me he was a Canes' fan..
So fast forward to summer of last year where we met up at a family reunion, and he's referring to Alabama as "we".
I'm like, "No, you just can't do this!".
Lol!
