I know we were talking about this stuff last week in other threads, but I just saw this on twitter and figured it was worth dragging the Noles some more...
As we know they are broke. And also, this doesn't include last season, because these fiscal years are from the 2023 and 2024 CFB seasons. But look at their increased expenses just in that one single season - almost 40% year over year!
Now, I know, I know. The game changed, NIL happened, they had their stadium renovations, right? Except according to the article, this doesn't even include NIL! From the article (linked below):
But this data does not cover athlete payroll, House settlement payments, NIL, etc. This data comes from the Total Operating Expenses line item on the report. That includes coach and staff salaries, coach buyout and severance packages, recruiting spending, team travel, food, software costs, buy games, and everything that goes into running a program BESIDES athlete payments.
Coach and staff salaries? Coach buyout and severance packages?? RECRUITING SPENDING?!?
Also, (and
@TheOriginalCane please correct me if I am wrong here!), but even if the stadium renovation is included in these expenses, I believe that the stadium renovation was paid for during FY24, not FY25. FSU issued a $327M bond in May 2024. The article here states that the FY runs from July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025.
These numbers just aren't adding up. What the heck are they doing up there? Is someone just embezzling money?
