They are just grabbing any decently rated player and hoping it works. The portal is not a sustainable option to team building. You either have to nail HS recruiting, like UGA & OSU, or supplement like us and TT have done with above average to good HS recruiting. They’ll sign a “highly” rated portal class just based on the sheer numbers they’ll have to bring in, but they’ll be playing 165 lb DBs and and skill players and they’ll be pushed around again. Which I’m here for. It’s time that program got their dose of reality.

Deion never had that relationship with FSU that Mario has with Miami. Heck Sanders is closer with the canes great. Look at his staff and who hangs around that program. Also whoever goes there would have to go with the backing Mario came with.

FSU lurkers, listen me good. Cristobal is an offensive line coach. He doesnt need to be lane Kiffin to win. He need to recruit and hire proper coaches. He is trending the right way in both. Jimbo Fisher, bum, Dabo, bum, Gene Chizik bum. All won titles. Not rocket science why. As long as the area the coach specializes in is good, he doing a great job. We are not struggling for OL recruits or OL coaching. Enjoy purgatory. I remember the 20 teens.

Barker looked competent for them this season but missed 3-4 games with Injury. Might be worth kicking the tires for right price.

Edwin Joseph has raw talent/measurables but seems a bit of head case. He got into heated discussions woth Norvell a couple times including during a game. Also was named in the Ricky Knight case. Better safe than sorry. Stay away.

Pittman was just a healthier version Lofton. A tad smaller and doesn’t have his blocking ability. Stay away.

Only one definite player on their roster that would a take would be the better Desir Twin. If he entered then probably would have to take his twin too. The lesser twin would be rotational piece with a chance to be more if he develops.

Duce Robinson probably goes pro so not including him.

Others players not in the portal that have potential include WE Lawayne McCoy, DT Kevin Wynn, and DL Tyrion Lee.
 
Just had a thought about how crazy it would be if 4th and 14 was the catalyst that get Manny Diaz hired at FSU. Norvell pulls off the miracle of 4th and 14 and gets Manny fired, Mario embarrasses Norvell and gets him fired and FSU hires Diaz.

I agree. But he’s the coach everyone points towards as their savior or “prodigal son”. And even then, I think he could do more damage long term with how he builds rosters vs Norvell.

Does anyone have an idea what Robinson's NFL grade might be? He'd be the one guy I would target if he is hesitating over the draft.

At Miami, Manny couldn’t garner sufficient material support from a board/athletic department that was more interested in cashing checks than going all in on winning. This amplified his flaws as a recruiter. At the same time, he didn’t have the personality to instill discipline in his locker room.

All those problems currently exist at FSU—a checked out/cheap admin and bad locker room. Manny at FSU will likely go the same way as Manny at Miami and I am all here for it.

I’m not sure I’ve seen or heard Deion say a positive word about FSU in forever. He’s has a lot of bad feelings toward them about the way he thinks he’s been treated by them.
I doubt he would ever go there…

Manny by definition is not a “bad” coach. He’s also not a “good” coach. He’s average. And right now, average is a marked improvement for FSU. But it will turn them into Nebraska 2.0.

I am not sure how anyone can look at Colorado and come away with a positive opinion of Deion as a coach…even with the most fsu colored glasses.
