Tears Nole Tears (“Offcial”)

I appreciate the point. It's possible they still have talent on their team and are adding to it in the incoming class. But I expect these "blue chips" are more like Hykeem Williams and Conrad Hussey than Bain and Toney.
We’ve had a high blue chip ratio for two decades. They don’t have the right blue chips imo. Weak trenches and questionable QB play kills having good WRs/DBs.

Short of them nailing the next hire it doesn’t look good for them long term. This year’s HS recruiting could be historically bad. Best case scenario, for us, Norvell goes 7-5, wins a bowl game vs some AAC school and saves his job. Then gets canned in 2027 after going like 4-8 or something.

Either way they're shackled with crazy monetary commitments for years to come, and are currently dealing with a deeply flawed roster that has zero identity. What half-decent HC would ever want that job?

Mario is literally living the best possible scenario for program building right now. Miami stock is flying sky high, and both our in-state rivals are shattered. If we don't get a top 5 class for 2027, I don't know when we will.

I prefer they keep Norvell and keep going 7-5 until the ACC falls apart and they find themselves outside of the eventual P2. That would be the final nail in the coffin.

I’m not naive, we don’t hire Mario if he didn’t play here. FSU doesn’t have that. Deion can’t hold a candle to Mario’s program building. I legitimately don’t think there’s a single P4 candidate who’d attach themselves to that sinking ship.

They are just grabbing any decently rated player and hoping it works. The portal is not a sustainable option to team building. You either have to nail HS recruiting, like UGA & OSU, or supplement like us and TT have done with above average to good HS recruiting. They’ll sign a “highly” rated portal class just based on the sheer numbers they’ll have to bring in, but they’ll be playing 165 lb DBs and and skill players and they’ll be pushed around again. Which I’m here for. It’s time that program got their dose of reality.

I would be surprised if a P2 conference didn’t take them. But not for football reasons. I could see the SEC begrudgingly taking them for baseball and softball and the name brand recognition and hoping football can figure its **** out.

Actually, we haven’t. It was roughly 40 blue chip players in 2007-2010, and then it abruptly crashed into the 20s from 2012-2017. It began to build back up beginning in 2018 and in 2019-2020 was back around 40. Since Mario arrived our blue chip ratio has surged much further.

I should’ve worded it better. Our blue chip ratio was higher relative to our conference opponents. We pretty routinely signed a top 3-5 class in the ACC even under Golden. The main point is we took guys who were tweeners, projects, etc. Which is exactly where FSU is at this moment.
