It’s 100% about the money. They likely have post season bonuses for coaches and players and would be on the hook for all the bowl game tickets they won’t be able to sell. Broke asses can’t afford to go to a bowl game even if they need as many practices as they can get

This might be a dumb question, but what's the reasoning behind NOT accepting this bowl invite?

I don't know a single thing about GA Southern, but I would have to think even a garbage FSU team would beat them, right? (Maybe not lol)
But they're missing out on 2 or 3 extra weeks of valuable practice time, bowl money, tv exposure etc...

Perception wise their Brand takes a massive hit accepting a bid to a bowl you didn't earn at 5-7 against a G5 school. There's nothing to gain by accepting and playing that game?! If they got lucky and won then they was suppose to win! If they lost?! Not to mention the opt outs who won't risk injury playing a meaningless bowl against a G5 school. This season is Dead for them there's no reason to keep it on life support!

It's fine, UM is always the trendsetters. Everyone was doing the Cam TD celebration last year. Some in the NFL still do. Everyone had their own versin of the turnover chain. A bunch still do. Everyone has some kind of hand gesture now like the U. And I know some other teams had them like Texas, but we made it famous and everyone neeedded to jump on the bandwaggon.

didn't we also start the holding up the 4 fingers for the start of 4th qt? Or am I imagining that?

Not sure about fsu but other programs have already sent kids home since the semester is over and they don’t see a need to fly everybody back for bowl game.

He has been there three years, the players and their development are his....you have seen them play.... what screams bring him to Miami?
Have you’ve seen FSU recruiting and DC choices since G5 Mike’s been there? Lol

Some were ready to write Jason Taylor off here till we got him talent, a DC along with a healthy Bain and Akeem

I’m just saying good coaches sign up for bad situations sometimes

Fair, honest question not being a ****....what has he shown to be a good coach? I will grant him A'zeyriah Thomas.

Honestly idk if it’s bad coaching, talent or both tbh.

I just know at the very least he’s suppose to be a good recruiter with obvious connections down here.

What semester is over? Players don't have to take final exams?

As for the bowl game, EVERY team has to fly players back for the bowl game.

Because they will probably lose.

And also probably half their team has already cleared out their lockers and checked out with plans to graduate or portal. Position coaches have been fired and/or moved on.

The SemenHoles claim that one of their students did it one time in the 1970s. Of course, it wasn't repeated and done as a tradition. WE DID THAT.
Our brand also spread to all levels of football, even in other states.

I had told some of y'all that my son played in his 8u division championship last month, and there were FOUR Canes traditions in that game.

1. They played "In the Air Tonight" as the pregame song as everyone was getting ready right before the kids came out.

2. They had the kids come out through a little tunnel through the smoke.

3. The announcer told everyone to put up their four fingers when the third quarter ended.

4. At the end of the 4th, our team was down by 6 and driving with ~2 minutes left, and everyone was going nuts. The announcer was feeding off the energy and started yelling Santana's (misquoted) line, over and over, "Big time players make big time plays in big games!"

It was awesome.
