Agree to a point.

The path of least resistance to the playoffs is a major selling point - I would think if I were a head coach. However, can a Tulane or Memphis keep up financially to continue to pay for or retaining quality coaching staffs to support the head coach?

If they can and the playoffs remain as it is with the auto IDs, then staying put at a G5 program makes sense (same can be said for Miami in the ACC as long as the program can remain financially competitive to attract and retain talented rosters).

Obviously there’s a ceiling at those places. It’s the first time, really ever, these smaller school coaches can be picky. They don’t have to take the first “big” job that comes calling. Which that’s FSU & UF’s problem.
