Tears Nole Tears (“Offcial”)

I mean I’d only take the FSU job because of the easier ACC schedule…

I think it was talked about in the game threads about what players could play on our team and I think Florida has a better roster in place now before you get your own cherry picked portal adds. FSU is a complete tear down and rebuild… their trenches are brutally bad up and down the depth chart
You might think I'm being a vindictive cuss; but between the FL jobs not named 'University Of Miami', I'd probably try to coach at USF before UF and FSU. Less expectations, good, solid booster base, great fertile recruting ground. A really good coaching staff could make USF a regular top 25/occasional top 10 team.

Tampa is a much sexier place than Hogtown or Tallahassee. lol!

No argument here lol I’ve been to Tampa a few times with work and enjoy the golf in the area recently played Cabot and really enjoyed it.

Either way if I’m lane unless bama, LSU, texas, or Ohio state call I just stay winning 10+ games a year getting to say whatever I want on X and probably gets away with **** near murder in his private life

the fsu geniuses think that malzahn is an obsticle to finding top qb talent . . .

but every year there is a dude like lamar jackson (not saying same talent level but same traits) that was the best qb in the state, ran for more touchdowns than passing touchdowns and bama and georgia want him but will only recruit him as a wr or db. this niche will allow fspoo to compete above their normal result. for a failing brand like fspoo, this might be their way back to relevance. my 2 cents.

Just like it was pre-NIL, I think when the dust settles niche will matter more. There's all sorts of ways to try and arbitrage 'value' in roster building. Smart programs will find some 'moneyball' solutions as the data sets grow.

As more programs get burned by 'bad' NIL deals more will grow some discipline. We'll see how it works out for the guys that took top dollar to play at Maryland instead of less at UGA (random schools). Does the value of NIL now, trump the value of legitimate NFL development?

I think the problem is 6 years in I'm not sure what the identity of FSU is -- and usually your niche is tied to program identity. 2nd chance U? If you couldn't cut it in the SEC, you'll fit right in here.

I still think that NIL needs to have a maximum cap. This will be a situation, if not nipped in the bud, that will spiral out of control 5-10 years from now.

Honestly, if he was going for one of the jobs right now; it seems between the two FSU is more serviceable to rebuild quickly. UF, seems to me is around 2-3 years away, and FSU with a better coach and staff, could turn things around in one year.

And honestly, UF seems to have a stubborn, boneheaded Athletic Director. That would be a problem too.
Gators have more way more talent

UF’s AD isn’t the issue; his main job is the stadium rebuild. The stubbornness comes from the old fogeys in the UAA who really run things behind the scenes, like Foley, etc. It’s kind of an awkward setup.

That being said, I think UF is in a much better position than FSU as they have far more money and resources. Remember they did just win the basketball ship in April. The football team is 2/3rds of the way there, it just needs a quality new head coach. They already completed the new football facility, aren’t coming off a 2-10 season, and have conference stability. The SEC is ripe for the taking because Alabama isn’t king anymore.

FSU’s financials have been weak for a long time, and aren’t getting better. Norvell “donated” a big chunk of his salary back after last season (aka took a pay cut) because they needed money to pay recruits. That’s a horrible look, especially after a 2-10 season. FSU also seems to have developed quite a PR problem as well over the past few years. Due to the “snub,” and the lawsuit, and in general just way the school handled things, they now have a reputation of being unprofessional and unnecessarily rude. Some coaches may not want to be associated with that, or at least may not feel the financial risk is worth it, especially when it’s a harder sell to recruits and you’re in a rebuild.
