Tears Nole Tears (“Offcial”)

Mario didn’t take over a juggernaut like Coker or Erickson did. Or like DeBoer did.

He had an image that he wanted his program rebuilt into (something akin to Alabama or Miami or old). And he set about doing that, in a process that was multi year.

DeBoer inherited a team that has absolutely dominated high school recruiting over the last 15 years, and whose only real competition for talent was Ohio State and Georgia. Alabama was like the Miami teams of old…every year a national championship was expected, and reasonably so because of the absurd level of talent. And now they’ve slid back.

A secondary problem that not many are talking about is how well equipped is Alabama to exist in a transfer portal / NIL ecosystem. They dominated pre NIL when the top payments were $300K. Now you have players earning nine figures. Now you can’t simply stack talent, because talent can leave. Those are factors that DeBoer now faces, and Saban would have faced if he had not retired.
Objectively, he inherited a better situation than Mario. That doesn’t mean it’s his players that work with what he wants to do. Lanning inherited a very good situation from Mario yet he still flipped the roster. He wanted his guys. So if we’re giving Mario 4 years then give the other guys the same amount of time. But ripping DeBoer and others while capping for Mario is something I will never ever see as fair.

Fair or not bama already had a rebuilt roster. I get what you are saying and I kind of agree but since the roster was the least of bamas worries gave him less time. That’s a job you take after Saban cause it’s life changing money, and you get fired and relax. That’s basically what it is. A job you will fail at for 20 years. You can’t replicate what the fans demand. Saban ruined them, they think they have to win it every year. Imagine the way cane fans were and we had a tiny window in the early 2000’s. Bama had like a 15 almost 20 year window. Saban ruined expectations there cause they are unrealistic

I totally get that, but I think Alabama (and Georgia now to a large extent) are unique situations. The Crimson Tide was a prototypical machine in how they operated under Saban. Ideally you would want as little change from those standards and as much continuity from what worked as possible.

The end of the 2024 season for Alabama was the polar opposite to what we saw during the Saban years. Outside of an Iron Bowl win at home against a 5-7 Auburn team, DeBoer is 1-3 in this last four games. Outside of the FSU loss, this includes:

- A 24-3 drubbing against an Oklahoma team that finished the 2024 season 6-7.
- A 19-13 bowl loss against Michigan that featured 3 Michigan opt-outs drafted in the Top 15 in the 2025 NFL draft and another second round pick.

And if my memory serves me correctly, Alabama didn't have too many players opt out in the bowl game.

Agreed that FSU is better, but DeBoer is completely in over his head. FSU fans are acting as if they conquered the 'Bama of old and they didn't. That program is a complete shell of what it used to be.
And lets not forget that them mfers lost to Vanderbilt last year. FSU can pound their chest all they want to about beating Alabama, but lets be real, Saban is gone is so is all the mystique.

It seems like DeBoer is a good coach but maybe not the right one for what bama needed. I thought he’d kill it there but he’d probably be a better fit at USC.

After 1 game, Jackson has become a jumbo Aaron Donald.

It’s incredible how delusional they are. Even the Gators, for all their clown ****, are acknowledging on their boards how difficult their matchup with us is.

Again, we are going to stomp FSU at Doak and they are going to be stunned
I’m far more concerned about the gators over fsu . They are solid in the trenches too . I can see that one being a dog fight to the end . Noles one or two of those ol get hurt they’re done with that midget qb .

Never been more convinced that we’re going to go into someone’s house and stomp them. Even FSU people were saying 7-5 when the year started. Theyre gonna learn
