Had to create another thread just to have two No Marios on the home page in case Blake is surfing the site looking for suggestions.

All information below provided by WTH.

For all of our fans falling all over themselves to hire this guy, allow me to present some painful facts:

- He has a career head coaching record of 35-52.
- He’s coached 7 full seasons in his career.
- He’s NEVER won 9 games.
- He’s never been a coordinator (ONE year as a Co-OC)
- He was fired from FIU after winning 3 games in his sixth season.
- Butch just won 9 games at FIU in year 2.

Just a few comparisons to some other candidates being discussed who have head coaching experience:

Mike Leach:
- Leach went 57-31 in his first 7 seasons
- Two seasons with 9+ wins during that time

Matt Campbell:
- Campbell went 54-33 in his first 7 seasons
- Three seasons with 9+ wins during that time

Dino Babers:
- Babers went 55-35 in his first 7 seasons
- Theee seasons with 10+ wins during that time

Mario is another CEO:
Mario does not have a side of the ball he specializes in. He isn’t some defensive wizard, or a cutting edge offensive guru. He makes his name being an intense guy that people think can recruit. He did his recruiting while running around with an A slapped on his polo asking kids if they wanted to play for Nick Saban. I ask, is that a difficult task?

- Cristobal is yet another CEO that would require two ace coordinator hires.
- He is not some innovative brilliant X and O guy.
- We wouldn’t be able to leave one side of the ball completely under his watch.
- His recruiting prowess mostly comes from recruiting for Nick Saban and the top program.
- We’ve learned the last few years talent isn’t enough.
- As a head coach, he’a failed to do the one thing he’s supposed to: win.

Hmmm.
A guy that people say is high energy, a good recruiter, but would come to Miami with a losing record and doesn’t have a track record of being elite on one side of the ball as a coordinator... sound familiar?

Don’t make the same mistake twice: just say no.

He pulled Oregon's highest ranked class ever. Chip couldn't even land that class when he was blatantly cheating and handing checks over. Winning head to head recruiting battles with Bama and pillaging all of the SoCal talent. Would have our roster loaded.

I agree. He's aggressive and intense. With a quality staff will be excellent The Saban experience is a huge plus.

Recruiting doesn't mean a thing if you can't develop that talent and use it execute a winning game plan.

So his DC isn't good? He has the #1 rated QB for the draft and thats not good enough to win more than 8 games in the PAC?

The guy is a below average coach. You are what your record is.

35-52 - Thats all that needs to be said

heres another fact people either don't know or are ignoring. apparently when he was at FIU, Mario wasn't a real hit with a lot
of So Fla HS coaches and programs. he really wouldn't win any popularity contests and that would be a killer.

if by some miracle he did come back to Miami, he would not be able to recruit So Fla worth a ****. this was one of the
main reasons that Pete Garcia fired his ***. i would never want a guy that Pete Garcia fired if it was up to me.

think about that.

He can Recruit for sure. He lost the Stanford game he fu**ed up and had it won. I would not pay 10 mill right now for Mario to come here. He needs to prove he can win at a power 5 conference. He had a pretty stacked team and didn’t win a weak pac 12. He’ll CMR won the coastal with Rosier. Mario has a top 10 pick qb and loses a game he should have won but lost with a terrible decision he made.. Now next time around if he has proven himself I would take him in a heartbeat. Too soon right now.
