No Special Teams Coach...Why?

It's the ST coach fault that Stevenson muffed the punt? Or Borregagles shanked a kick? You guys need to get a grip. These coaches can't go out and make plays for these kids. Miami players once again shrunk under the bright lights. Something we have been doing for almost 2 decades now. And these coaches are supposed to have fixed all that in year 1? Again my only complaint about the game Saturday is Gattis calling a conservative slow plodding offensive game instead of going uptempo, especially after they lost some DBs.

Our STs have sucked as a whole for 17yrs

Is that a real question? His *** better be analyzing that **** for special teams we ran on the field Sat. night. I’m pretty sure our mishaps will be fixed. But going forward people will still make mistakes. We just can’t have 3-4 special team “mistakes” in the same game.
Our STs have stunk as a whole since forever..

Does it really take much to see that Stevenson never should’ve been fielding punts in the first place? When he didn’t take that pick back to the house last week, that clearly tells you he don’t know what to do with the ball in his hands

Yeah, I get criticism of a special teams coach when there is a unit-wide systemic failure, like bad kick coverage, getting punts blocked, etc. That wasn't really what we saw Saturday night, it was just one punt returner making a dumb decision, and one kicker choking. Borregales probably makes those kicks 45 times out of 50 in practice.

16 yrs as a ST coach in the nfl is not good enough?
He was the Vikings ST Coordinator for a few years recently. The unit was terrible. Deeper than just bad kicks. Guys couldn’t like up right, bad lane integrity, etc. Seemed like a lot of issues you’d see at the lower levels not at the professional level.

ST's coaching had nothing to do with the muffed punt. They've looked better this year, up to this game. The only thing possibly related would be the blocked FG, but even that he hit it too low.

Yea, you’re right….and all of our issues will not be fixed in year 1. So far we can now kick it in the endzone, kick coverage and punt coverage is solid, tackling looks better, and our return game looks better…. 2 just made a boneheaded play.

Stevenson fielding punts is on the coaches. No way in **** TS is the best option ahead of K. Smith, Knighton, Parrish, George, and B. Smith.

It's more on Jalen Rivers getting blown up in my opinion. Too good of a player for that to happen.

Has anyone looked if UGA, Bama, Clemson and OSU have on field ST Coach??

The fact we fell behind and never recovered from the muffed punt IS ON MARIO. There is no way that Stevenson should be fielding puts because he is undecisive, shaky at best, and George is significantly better. Stop protecting MARIO and giving him a pass. That play should have NEVER happened and Mario's poor judgement caused that. FACTS
