There is not a Saban, Urban or John H available this year to hire. There is no slam dunk available in my opinion. Every candidate has their positives and negatives. Ragardless who Miami ends up with there will be groups that will be unhappy. Butch seems to be this boards unanimous decision but still there are doubts can he replicate the glory days? I think whoever we end up with no matter what will have to support themselves with a top flight staff to overcome their shortcomings. There are very few coaches who have proven they can plug and play with any coordinator and be successful, unfortunately none of them are going to be Miami's next head coach. There is no reason to stress over Butch, Strong, Cuban Al, Herman, Fuente and whoever else because the design on coordinators will be what makes or breaks the next regime!

Haha even Butch isnt a slam dunk! If he was such a great hire he wouldn't have been without a job for this long. Some of the old heads on this board need to get over the Butch from 15 yrs ago. There would be a risk to hiring him.

An honest question for the BBB crowd. Has any coach basically retired for multiple years and then come back to dominate college football all while not being successful anywhere in the last 13 years?

Butch isn't a slam dunk......but he's the guy everyone could buy into........no need to waste time with Mario, strong, Shula.....

Butch does not have to be the "perfect" choice...he is the "RIGHT" choice and that is what Miami needs to get back on the road to NATIONAL FRIGGIN CHAMPIONSHIPS.

THATS THE PROBLEM WITH THESE LITTLE GIRLS THAT DONT LIKE BUTCH.....all these powder puff, wet behind the ears, johnny come lately so-called Canes fans dont have a **** clue what Championship Miami Hurricanes football even looks like !!!!

they dont have a clue whats it like to watch the Canes snack on top 10 teams, dominate and embarrass so called "elite" teams.

Butch is going to be the new sheriff in town and college football will get ROCKED again by the CANES !!!

Just no Mario or Strong. These guys have been failures at previous jobs. Prefer Butch, but the others are worth vetting.

And no ****n Mike Shula either. The guy couldnt win at Bammer and now hes supposed to be good cause the ****** panthes are undefeated? Gtfoh.

Nobody is actually bringing any real reasons for Butch. Shula won 10 games at Bama while they were on probation and going through terrible years. Whoever above said Strong and Cristobal have been failures, what about Butch at UNC? Would you call his tenure there success? I'm not anti Butch but it's ridiculous to just say he will be a great hire because of 15 years ago!

If you'll find another coach that put together the equivalent teams he put together in 2000, 2001, 2002, and 2003, maybe we'll be able to zero in on the matter just a bit more focused.

Just list them, and we'll get right on it.

You're leaving out his 1983, 1987, 1989, and 1991 teams.

I understand what Butch HAS done. My question is why does everyone think it's a slam dunk he can replicate that? Dude has coached in years and NOOOOoOoOO other program in college wants him! Does that not open your eyes a little bit?

GENIUS!

This is why threadbutcher is of immense value to this board. One has to admire the capability of pulling a totally irrelevant sweater, right out of his ***.

GENIUS!

He's younger than Butch and has won at the 2 schools he has coached at.

What has Butch won as a head football coach in college?
