OK, so we should just get no one? Is that your brilliant idea? Just get no one now? or should we atleast get a four-star kid that’s interested in us and seems to want to come here. That’s the choice I would make! Smh
Never said don't take him. I'm saying don't treat him as the man simply because we got him. We're only getting him now since we couldn't get the better players we wanted.

I'm sensing a bit of a double standard/moving of goal posts. The same posters that bemoan the fact that 'Mario was hired to win big recruiting battles' are also the same posters that call a *checks notes* 4 star/top 20 safety in the country, with a pretty solid offer list, a 'plan C' recruit.
Eh, I remember when Redding wasn't a priority when we were going for big fish. When the big fish were caught by other teams, Redding became a priority.

Mario was hired to not settle for the plan c guys because he missed on a and b.

So? We still ended up with a 4 Star athletic productive player with a full year of senior football to play. Not some 3 star on signing day we are flipping from East Carolina.

F*ck you guys complain way too much
The best complainers on here are the ones who tell themselves every year that every recruit is special and we'll win 10+ games.....then lose their **** when it doesn't work out that way.

Been seeing it for 20 seasons.

Who was plan B?

Hate to be a ratings ***** but how is a 'Plan A' guy rated lower by 247 than the 'Plan C' guy? Tyriq Green as well.

Devin Jackson is clearly a higher ranked player, so Ill give you that.
Stewart is a better prospect than Redding. Forget about the ratings. Our staff knew it and so did Clemson and Michigan

Big fish? None of these guys are elite. Jackson is rated much higher than both as he is 198 on the composite. Stewart and redding are both in the 300s. They both are in the 20s in their position. Stewart being a lil higher in both. Yea they missed but redding is a good backup option to have. Who knows he might end up the better player

Kid closes with speed and violence, plays the ball well, and looks fluid. Granted this is just me watching half of his junior highlights on Hudl and I don't know ****...but Blake Stewart, who was ostensibly was the top safety on our board and a huge loss, is ranked below Redding on both 247 and On3. Redding has a faster 100m time (10.52 vs 11.12) and they're both listed at 6-0 175. What am I missing? Why is this kid a plan B and Stewart was a must get?
stewart plays better comp and is bigger slightly.

Redding is 5'10 tops.

Blake Stewart has been making plays all off szn at 7 o 7's going gainst the best of the bets in the country. Stewart film is better from my eyes

So are you suggesting we say, “no thanks, because you our plan c”? It’s recruiting. You win some, you lose some. It’s **** good to have backup plans. Or should Mario just recruit like one of our previous head coaches and only go after the plan A guys, and had nobody to turn to, when they would eventually tell us to “kick rocks”? Now you scrambling at the “clearance bin” at TJ Maxx trying to find plan k guys. Looking for anyone that may can play a little. Who can forget, “This kid has played Safety”.
Hurlie: “He’s not a Miami caliber athlete”.
Corch: “But he’s played Safety”.
Poor Hurlie:

I seem to hear more buzz from Miami about Tamarion Watkins, Devin Jackson and Blake Stewart than I did for Cortez Redding.
He is rated higher than all of them except Jackson?! I agree he was prioritized as high as Stewart and Jackson but that doesn’t mean he isn’t a quality pickup. This is the reason staffs send multiple offers to positions. He was offered for a reason. Now if this was a late new offer in the cycle then your point is more credible.

I don’t know anyone who’s treating him as the man, but he is a four-star safety and he’s clearly talented. So there’s no reason to downplay that.

That’s about to be the worst LB room in America
Wow he still in the college ranks?!? Did Scott Frorst look up this guys resume?

His body of work is bottom of the barrel. One of the worst coaches in Miami history and that’s saying a lot.

The OG 500 yard club owner.

Every week the offensive opponent won some ACC player of the week agasint us.

Teams would routinely complete their first 15 passes.
