No Front 7 Talent On The Field

The Front 7 and the 30/22 safety position just flat out have no talent out of the players who are currently getting most of the snaps.

Perryman has talent against the run sideline to sideline but can't cover well.

Other than him the talent just isn't there. They can't run sideline to sideline and they can't play in space. It's why we struggle so much against teams that spread out the field and can't cover drag routes or the TE at all.

With chickillo and green are playing most of the snaps at DE and cannot generate any pass rush at all.

Now the defensive backfield has talent between Tracy, Artie, Gunter, Crawford, and Bush and should be set for the next few years.

Next year on the DL, need to play chickillo a lot more inside. Need AQM and McCord to start becoming first and second down players. Hope kamalu, hamilton, Moore are at least ready to get reps, they might not be world beaters but they should at least be more talented then the guys who are playing. Pray that some of the JUCO DL work out mainly on the interior o-line.

At LB i'm actually optimistic Perryman, Figeroa, Grace can play most of the snaps. That group can run sideline to sideline and is far more athletic. Armbrister, Kirby, and maybe Blue for depth.

Coach D is a puzzle but can't expect him to make chicken salad out of chicken **** which is the group of upperclassmen he inherited.

Luther Robinson got in trouble last year for making plays, we dont know if he's a jag or not, i know the coaches told him he isnt suppose to make plays in this scheme and he would have to deal with that in order to play.

We need guys that can run to the ball with speed we seem to not have enough D players with speed. When u watch an fsu bama and lsu game they always have 2 or 3 guys who can fly to the ball on D. We have 1 his name is Deon Bush but hes not the Bush from last year cuz of the injury.

Renfrow isn't the problem. The other guys are which is the whole point. The guy who can't get on the field for virginia and now starts for us isn't the problem. Thats scary isn't it?

Coach up the talent that we do have. Good coaches teach guys how to cover. No they may never become glue men, but they'll get better at it - much better. We need more talent and a new scheme.

The problem is the D Line is supposed to control the O-line and then your LB's are supposed to be free to fly to the ball and gobble up the plays. Our LB's sans 52 are slow and terrible in space.

You can't just change the scheme for one season cuz the talent sucks. Golden has always taken the long term approach. We are recruiting certain types of players to fit his scheme. You can't just be switching schemes around when you are trying to develop your young talent into the scheme we are eventually trying to run.

We are 7-2 with this crappy D and if we stop with dumb turnovers can get to 10 wins which would be a great season no matter what compared to the expectations coming in.

If we beat pitt, duke, and virginia we are likely chick fila bowl bound. FSU, BCS title game, Clemson BCS at large, Miami Chick Fila. Va Tech will lose to FSU and have 4 losses.

Drop another game and it will be a middle of december bowl game.

McCord, AQM, Jackson, Harris, Smith are never going to be big enough to play 3-4 DEs here. Unless we change up the scheme and get 2 of these guys on the field at all times as OLB in the 3-4, we are just wasting their talents.

Sorry! but that doesn't make sense in college football. You will never have every player you need.
You are going to have to adjust for the players you have. Maybe within your preferred scheme and maybe not. But you have to make it work.
You can't even get the team you would prefer in fantasy football.

I'm pretty sure that is exactly what the long term goal is but it takes time to develop those types of guys. They need to be big and strong enough to hold up against the run.

It's doesn't take 3 years to cover the drag, screen, or flare. Coaching and philosophy is the problem. Iowa always has a pretty decent D and 80% of the dense is Slow white kids

This 3-4 garbage is a retarded version of a defense.... it is nothing like the **** you see Bama and FSU running.

In the beginning i thought it would be more multiple, I thought we were going to see McCord and Gilbert standing up coming off the edges in a 9 tech.

Instead we have Shayon Green running out in space 10 yards up the field w/ his back turned while a bubble screen is being set up right by the spot he left... the coaching and his dumb *** schemes are the problem

VT would love to have most of our Defensive players added to their roster.... their D-line's job is to make plays.

If Miami had a 4-3 scheme like theirs, our D-lineman would show more of their talent on the field.
