NO EXCUSES We now have championship quality talent

I agree, that's why I said this season. I've been a big Jarren Williams fan on here since Day 1, but let's not pretend we know what he offers. He looked out of shape in a recent pic, but he's shown maturity by quitting Twitter. Meanwhile N'Kosi's off-field antics pretty much just suck 100% of the time.
Yeah I agree, I really really hope Tate is cleared. Jarren has the potential but he will have to do a 180 from last year and unfortunately, if he can't get over the hump, what we have behind him is going to ruin a potentially great team.

Our roster is not nearly as good as UGA, Bama, Clemson or Ohio State's.

They've had years to weed out busts and average college players and even more time creating a development structure and winning culture.

Counting blue chips is only part of he equaton.

When you have the #1-#3 class in the nation every single year....that sort of ****e tends to weed it$elf out.

Blue Chip Ratio is arbitrary and not useful for anything other than a quick glance (definitely not valuable if you start tinkering with ratings i.e Kennedy). It doesn't take into account the spread of your talent, and I'm highly skeptical any time the threshold you need to hit is a pretty number, like 50% of all players being 4 stars or better.

For 18 long years the canes have been hovering around mediocrity.Don't get me wrong the canes are headed in the right direction but for this season in going to curb my expectations for this team.Diaz first season as a hc,new offensive staff I'm sure there will be plenty of mistakes etc.by seasons end team should be hitting its stride.if they don't acccg this year we should run away with the coastal in 20.

But like we said before... the talent to beat the schedule IS there. Do that, and whatever happens, happens.

Agree 100%. Anything more than two losses is a total failure this season, especially if Williams or Tate is anything better than average.

Coaching still matters
Without good coaching quality talent NEVER reaches its potential

Recap
Offensive “Blue Chips”: 21 (down 1 from 2018)

Defensive “Blue Chips”: 21 (up 5 from 2018)

Total “Blue Chips”: 42 (up 4 from 2018)

With 83 players on scholarship at my last count — which you can see here in the scholarship matrix— that puts Miami at 50.6% “Blue Chips” on the roster. If you’ve been following recruiting for a while, you know that the ratio championship teams have is 50% of the roster or more being “Blue Chips”. So, after many years of slowly inching toward that number, Miami has finally crossed the vanguard to have a Championship Caliber roster.

With 51% (rounded up) of the roster as Blue Chips, Miami is in rarefied roster talent air. For comparison, Notre Dame’s roster had 51% Blue Chips last season. The Irish went 12-0 and made the College Football Playoff with that roster.

This isn’t a perfect roster — no QB is proven, depth could be added at RB, defections/injuries have taken additional talent from WR, the OL NEEDS. WORK.,"

"So there you have it. After years of merely having the best roster in the ACC Coastal, Miami now has a Championship Caliber roster overall. That means it’s time to coach these players up, see proper progression across the board, and go WIN.
Our “Blue Chips” don’t play like the elite teams blue chips. We are not close right now. Watch Clemson Bama, OU, OSU and a few others and you’ll see we have some catching up to do

I think the actual stat is something like all the playoff teams have at least 51.3% chippers. Not sure what the range was, but it’s a useful stat to guage overall rooster talent. That being said, there’s a big gap between a 4 star laden team and a 5 star laden team, but each wouid have the same blue chip ratio.

until we can find a decent QB we can be at 81% blue chips and it won't be good enough.

CFB is all about coaching and QB play.

At this point ( if Tate is denied) we are going to be relying on a RSF QB with no game experience and a HC that also has no game experience.

you can out talent most of our schedule but until we can get the HC and QB positions on an equal plane with our talent we will never be able to compete on the highest level.

We have double the blue chip talent that we had at our low point in 2012. But by comparison, we have roughly the same level of overall blue chip talent that we possessed in 2009.

We’re a contender - on paper - but need some of these blue chippers to become superlative. We need 4 star players to become what Richards was, or for3 star player to drastically overperform.

Without that, we still trail Alabama, LSU, Notre Dame, Texas, USC, Texas A&M, Florida, Oklahoma, Ohio State, Penn State, Clemson, and perhaps FSU in overall talent...on paper. Their ratios are higher.

Understand all of your points of view. well said but until we have a proven QB, the song remains the same. Lets not forget, a better performance from our O LINE.

Well that's definitely not true. Oregon and Mich St both made the playoff with a sub-30% blue-chip ratio.

And yeah, even if we were at 50% (we're not), we arent close to Bama/UGA,/OSU and we dont have Trevor Lawrence

Of course we’re not close to Bama or the elites. As my post said, there’s a big difference between a team of five star players and a team of 4 star players, but their blue chip ratio is the same nonetheless.

Exactly man, its comical and sad that people actually follow and use nonsense as their guide. It malkes people become imbeciles, we had the #1 pass defense in tbe nation but many were still wanting and calling for coach rumph to be fired because some db's he coached in highschool went elsewhere, they ignore reality but continue to be guided to mental ignorance by becoming star whores. Now they are attacking coach soldinger, and some real comments that he made, lol!
Again.... you’re wrong. And it’s not me who says you’re wrong. Math says you’re wrong. And math don’t lie.
