Who has a Championship Caliber roster? The Miami Hurricanes, according to the Blue Chip Ratio.

The talent is there. Now, the winning has to follow.

With 83 players on scholarship at my last count — which you can see here in the scholarship matrix— that puts Miami at 50.6% “Blue Chips” on the roster. If you’ve been following recruiting for a while, you know that the ratio championship teams have is 50% of the roster or more being “Blue Chips”. So, after many years of slowly inching toward that number, Miami has finally crossed the vanguard to have a Championship Caliber roster.

With 51% (rounded up) of the roster as Blue Chips, Miami is in rarefied roster talent air. For comparison, Notre Dame’s roster had 51% Blue Chips last season. The Irish went 12-0 and made the College Football Playoff with that roster.

This isn’t a perfect roster — no QB is proven, depth could be added at RB, defections/injuries have taken additional talent from WR, the OL NEEDS. WORK.,"

Our roster is not nearly as good as UGA, Bama, Clemson or Ohio State's.

They've had years to weed out busts and average college players and even more time creating a development structure and winning culture.

Counting blue chips is only part of he equaton.

#1 overall position ranking has to be a blue Chip. FB just isn't a **** or skill position. Also, aren't the only transfers besides Tate and Asa grad? And they have pending waivers, Phillips is supposed to apply to '20 as I remember.

I believe our starting lineup is, depth and youth is the problem. We must stay healthy this year.

You can throw Oklahoma and LSU on that list as well.

Thing is, we don't have to be as good as them next season. We just need to win the games we're supposed to win (imo, every single regular season game including UF) and get to the ACCCG. You need a little bit of luck as much as you need talent to win it all or get to the playoffs.
 
We’ve been over this public relations article already. Tommy Kennedy wasn’t a blue chip by any measure and Realus George wasn’t either.

That tips the scale below 50%. He actually went back in and tinkered because he was originally even bumping guys who have had good career arbitrarily but not demoting those who haven’t.

With a good class for 2020 Miami will definitely be good with that ratio though.
 
This is fun to read and helps the off-season go by a little faster. Beyond that, it's speculative, star bull****, fantasy football. Evaluating a roster off old star ratings - which in and of themselves are bull**** - is nothing more than a fun exercise. Ultimately, what matters is the initial player evaluation, having a system and recruiting players to the system, and then developing players. The idea that Miami is ready to rock-n-roll based on a guy like Tommy Kennedy suddenly being a blue chip talent is crazy. We better hope he can play, but there's no guarantee of how he'll perform at this level. Same goes for someone like Scott Patchan. Great kid who has fought through injuries, position changes and gotten into the rotation, but he's not what should be considered a blue chipper or difference maker.

Talent, yes. I’m wondering how long it will take for the new offense, new players, new coaches, and the new QB to jell and run like a machine. Lots of work to do. Defense should be great again though.
 
Its about stacking chips not having a good amount of chips. Competition in practice produces excellence and we have a pretty big drop off at certain positions. If you practice everyday against blue chips regardless of 1's 2's or 3's you will get better. Thats were OSU, BAMA, Clemson etc are. Yes we can field blue chips but we arent build entirely of blue chips and thats a big difference.
 
LoL, here we go again, relying on the nerd recruiting sites, do they take into account guys that have actually played vs guys who havent. Do they take into account actual games played, no player has a ranking until they've actually proven themselves on the field and to what level. 2 of the dumbest statements known to football, "this guy has out performed his ranking" or "this guy needs to start performing up to his ranking" no such thing. Players mostly play up to their talent level be it top notch, average or below average.

More importantly do these nerd recruiting sites take into account the heart and football I. Q. of the players, **** no, which is more important than just talent. With that being said, we dont have a championship roster until we start playing like one, nerd recruiting sites will continue to try and stay relevant!

Very well stated. Relying on star ratings and what a kid was as a 17-18 year old is nonsense.

But like we said before... the talent to beat the schedule IS there. Do that, and whatever happens, happens.

Except that the math consistently shows us that star ratings of 17-18 year old kids correlates directly with wins and ships.

I’m not a recruiting guy and so I don’t follow it much, but I’ve read numerous articles and studies which show that stars matterz

Exactly man, its comical and sad that people actually follow and use nonsense as their guide. It malkes people become imbeciles, we had the #1 pass defense in tbe nation but many were still wanting and calling for coach rumph to be fired because some db's he coached in highschool went elsewhere, they ignore reality but continue to be guided to mental ignorance by becoming star whores. Now they are attacking coach soldinger, and some real comments that he made, lol!

I agree, that's why I said this season. I've been a big Jarren Williams fan on here since Day 1, but let's not pretend we know what he offers. He looked out of shape in a recent pic, but he's shown maturity by quitting Twitter. Meanwhile N'Kosi's off-field antics pretty much just suck 100% of the time.
