They should scheming for what they have and recruiting for where they want to be. I don’t get coaches who have to force a system regardless of roster.
it just doesn't work out when you do that. when Frances Samson Tripp come in, you can start to impose your scheme. when those guys are still in HS, you should adjust to what your team does best right now. you can't recruit well if you dont win on the field. idc who the coach is. winning is the only important thing even if its smoke and mirrors

There are guys who are such good recruiters that they can sell a vision but they can also win more games adapting to their personnel and sell where they plan to take it too.

The thing I hate about Gattis the most is that he's clearly not prepared for the position he holds. He's BS'd his way to this point, and it shows.

Can anyone see a comment like "We threw the ball too many times" being used against us I'm recruiting? Especially coming from our WR coach? A WR coach that can't scheme a WR to get open?

An experienced coach doesn't just blurt out nonsense. I understand what he's trying to say. He just appears to communicate poorly, especially with the media. For example, he understands what a reporter means by saying ' condensed sets' , he just chooses to use it as an opportunity to throw some coach speak around.

We threw the ball because it was working. UNC, as terrible as they are on D, they were stout against us. We went down 14 fast and actually adjusted, something that hasn't happened much this year. To say, we threw the ball too many times sounds down-right idiotic.

If we end up running the ball 50x the next few games, just because, I'll end up drinking myself into depression

Month into the season and theres still people not getting it. Remember the D money I repeated the same **** for 50 pages going in circles ? Then a month later we’re seeing what was being asked for.

Oh well. What can you do?
we've said this from southern miss I believe.

you know what's actually funny - the coach that I personally wanted is a coach who has averaged more runs than passes the last 2.5 seasons so far and over 5 yards per rush right now for the numbers crowd.

for me, its what do we well? if its both, then yes be as equal or even shift in one vs the other as much as you want bc youre scoring and moving the ball either way.

im hard on gattis but Mario said it first to be fair. I do think Mario is dictating a decent amount of it and gattis is just running the dream

I’m not disagreeing.

Bottom Line:

Miami does not have the talent to be the ‘Power Spread’ elite team Mario envisions. His stubbornness lead to a terrible loss at home to MTSU, let alone losses at TAMU and last Saturday versus UNC. The short term plan should be to use what he has as creatively as possible to generate wins, all the while transforming his team into his vision.

No creativity is going to allow Miami to beat an elite team like UGA, Bama, Ohio State, or Clemson, and probably not anyone else in the Top 10, maybe even Top 20. The roster isn’t that good, especially with the injuries that keep piling up.

No matter which magic playbook you want to use.
I agree. I dont even care about competing with those teams now. like you said, we dont have the talent to go toe to toe w a real top 5-10 team right now. we just haven't looked competent against really bad teams. were just lucky we dont have last years non conference schedule this year

remember how much we hated golden for continuing to run a defensive scheme we clearly didnt have the roster for and it led to the worst defense in program history literally immediately? we never ever got the roster for it (and they both suck).
If he would've got rid of Donut boy...he'd have been alot more successful....another hard headed decision.

Disagree ... that was Golden's defense period. D'Onofrio was running exactly what Golden told him to run. Golden was an Al Groh defensive disciple.

Ironically, Golden may have had the best OLs since Butch. I think one season all five starters later played in the NFL for multiple seasons. No All-Pros or Pro Bowlers I can remember, but they played in the league. Have we had an OL make a squad and stick since Richt?

Are you being serious with this comment ? Or trolling ?
100% serious with these givens*:

- Big Manny was begged by Miami far moreso than he came to Miami
-- His demand was clear: program built my way, everyone supports this effort--Mas, Lemonis, Ruiz, Rhad the Impaler, and Alonzo...give me resources and get out of my way
-- Program will be built Y1-Y3, win now is great, but real season starts Y3/Y4, anything earlier is gravy
-
HE RELISHES THE GRIND, THE TOIL, THE STRUGGLE and the long term result that comes, not today's (sounds ALOT like Saban, alot like JJ in Dallas, or Butch at Miami)
- He respects JJ, Butch, and Saban and is implementing their philosophy (who shared same messaging for all of their Y1s)
- He will install his baseline, then tweak accordingly, not yank and bank the stick
-- Organizations fail miserably (mostly) when new leader diverges from plan of what got them there
-- Sticking to plan is no guarantee of success, but it helps....ALOT
-- His strategy is focusing everyone in Hecht, and those who provide resources, towards a true north: bully the trenches and strong passing attack

Yes AtM, MTSU, and UNC make everyone want to scream and break shït. I know I smashed my TVs 3 times, kicked everyone out of the house, my family crying, lit the garage on fire, and then I threw a corn hole bag at my MiL's head (nasty old bat that one is).

If we objectively look at the three losses, its actually very few plays different and Miami is a scorching hot 5-0. This only reinforces Big Manny's view of true north. "Listen to me, we are going to get 1 cot **** yard right now!!!! And then we are going to get 2 yds next time, and then 3, do you get me!!??" If he is the leader I think he shows the makings of, the athletes Miami wants in the program are going to run through brick walls and stomp guts. Not today unfortunately, but long term.

Again, none of above gaurantees success, but he believe firmly it has, does, and will. He has the luxury of time to build a winner, not win right now.

I'm not sure he does it, but I do believe he is doing it the way that puts much brighter days ahead (long way ahead) for our Miami Hurricanes.
