No chance Diaz and Blake are both back

If he gets an offer to be a DC? Sure, he's gone, but itsnormal for a guy to leave for a promotion. I doubt he will leave for another CB coach job.
I think the situation here is so toxic that he would leave for a lateral move where he can coach his own room vs the dictatorship Manny has here

The reality vs perception on Manny

If I recall correctly, the chatter on the board was the only DC that Diaz would look at was Muschamp. Once he was out, Diaz decided he would take the reins himself.

Not a good look for Diaz that Muschamp would choose to be a UGA analyst than UMs DC, but if UGA wins the national championship this year with an absolutely dominant D, Muschamp might be in line for another HC job somewhere so I guess it was the right call.
Being an analyst involves less risk and work. It's become a way for fired coaches to rehabilitate, which is somewhat strange. If you want another head coaching job, like Muschamp, may be better served to go the analyst route for a year. Less stress, more time with family, too.

Would people be able to stomach if we got a new AD and that bought manny a year with said AD to coach for his job?

Stomach meaning buying tickets for games next season + merch or just not killing myself?

I'm not letting the offseason hype beast get me with Manny again if he stays. I'll be back around when he's gone. And I don't give a **** if anyone thinks ill never be a super fan. Support the fans by giving a **** and being aggressive, smart and tough up top and ill support them . Until then there's a million other things to do in South Florida. Panthers have invested and are killing ****, that's where I was Saturday.

I think it just has more to do with trying to logistically manage the situation, rather than having a position open without someone to install quickly. I’m only guessing. But you don’t hire a fire emotionally.

I’ve had people that I’ve had to fire where I gave no clue to that person because they could do some damage while they were still employed, or I just wanted them to keep them humping until it was time for them to go. There are always reasons to delay a firing from a logistical or strategic standpoint. And those are the things we are not aware of.

But again I’m just guessing as to the internal machinations. As long as he’s done I’m good, whether that’s now or a few months from now.
Your experience and wisdom is an excellent brew of success.

As of this morning UM has a top 25 offense (#24). At least one thing is sort of working well.
My understanding is that Blake could be kept on in a fundraising capacity, sort of a lateral promotion, while the Board hires a Director of Football Operations (Highsmith, for example).

I think Manny is gone IF Mario can be enticed to come. If he can't, Manny is here another year with a DC who knows what he is doing.

Hey I feel you. If no changes are made I will likely cut ties. If we get a real AD late in the game and he says I want some time to find a guy I can live with that and be around again next season. Otherwise I don’t feel the need to spend money or time on a product that chooses to lose and be mediocre on its best days

If nobody else has said it yet; this is like the poor man's version of FIU's Cristobal versus Garcia.
If someone has already commented about this; please disregard this post.

Obrigado !

A physical man db coach coaching under a zone , bail technique head coach. Shocking this Didn’t work. Another brilliant move by manny.

Do we really see TRob leaving if a top name coach like a Mario, Kiffin, Herman or Stoops comes here? I would hope he would want to stay under that situation assuming the money is there. How hard would it be to make him an Assistant Head Coach or co-DC without the play calling, as well?

Is Cristobal such an upgrade over Diaz that he's worth paying over 15+ million more? Im skeptical (9 million buyout plus 7 million salary, on top of buying out Diaz). This isn't an endorsement of Diaz, just a cost-benefit analysis. Diaz is in such desperation mode that a strong AD could tell Diaz, "if you want to be here next year then you must fire Patke, hire an elite LB recruiter and then hire a DC who has complete autonomy over the defense. Money is not an obstacle. Here is a short list of DC candidates we've already prepared for you" and he would do it without question.
The recruiting alone makes MC an upgrade. But beyond that are all the things that hold manny back that aren’t as easy to solve as hiring a new DC: No hitting, no competition, culture, etc etc
