This is a problem that has to be addressed if we plan to maximize easy win situations on offense going forward. The 4th and goal play last night was just one example of many throughout the season where Enos has to have seen we are missing opportunities to either get out of a bad play or take advantage of defensive alignment for an easy conversion. When Manny talks about self evaluating, there is no way he does not see this either.
As an OC on the college level how do you not either have check with me built into your system for audibles or give the QB the autonomy to audible at the line. One of these is absolutely needed if you consider yourself a competent OC. It is just arrogant and stupid to think you can line up every play and out execute the defense, as if the defense can't have the perfect alignment and/or call to counter the offensive play that was called. I get that RPO sgive you options to deal with alignment and defensive calls sometimes, but we do not call RPOs every play and need to have ways built in to get out of plays where we are out flanked or just a bad call due to the look the defense is giving.
Our defense even change calls on occasion and get out of blitzes and run base coverage.
There will always be bad play calls sometime, but to never have a way to get out of one is just foolery and can not be accepted.
