Nike is BYKE.

Adidas stepped up. when we were in the gutter, Nike left us over lack of commitment to football ( thanks again Donna)
now that we are investing Nike is back, we can thank Mario and his relationship with Phil Knight as well
Revenue generation is huge on the landscape and NKie came to the table. FWIW the logo the U still has a lot of cache

Is a 10 year deal really the smart move right now? If LeBron taught us one thing, it's the value of riding the crest of the ever increasing rate of free agency. I'm speaking a little out of turn here because I don't know what is typical and not typical of shoe deals like this. All I'm saying is that if we go on some sort of run over the next 3-5 years, wouldn't that $20M per year number be a little light come 2032?

Here we go with the revisionist history. Mario is about revenue, because REVENUE allows him to build a world class program. Had Nike done what they’ve usually done and that’s lowball Miami, Mario(and the powers that be) would have looked elsewhere. Nike provided a top end deal, and Adidas didn’t match. Miami did what any well run organization does and that’s take the best possible deal.

I’m sure Adidas was hoping that Miami would take a slight discount in a “We were loyal to you when you were down” move, but loyalty is only for family and even that can be conditional.
 
Looks like annually this is about $13 million in cash and $7 million in apparel. Great news but I just hope Nike doesn't pull the same crap as last time and change our uniform every couple of years.

I read it. Adidas gave us an offer that Rad, whilst he was still in office, wanted to accept but ran by Echevarria. He ran the deal by Manuel Kadre, who is the Chair of the Board of Trustees, who then spoke to Nike. Nike made an offer that was ludicrously higher and Miami reached an agreement. Adidas contractually had time to match, and if they matched the deal, Miami would've accepted that.

Deal wasn't matched, Miami went with Nike.

Apparel deals are rarely less than 10 years for big programs and sometimes they’re longer than that
