Nike Clam Shell logo

Nike has developed several alternate logos for other schools, we are not the only ones.

I do not defend it at the time, I have criticized it from the moment it happened.

I would point out that the earlier Sebastian logo did not disappear entirely, so BOTH were available. Stop using your anti-Nike/pro-adidas bias to make this situation worse than it actually was.

At ALL TIMES during our Nike relationship, we were able to purchase both "old Sebastian" and "new Sebastian" logos. On different Nike merch, of course, but still.

Let's not forget that the "more modern" cartoon Sebastian was wearing THE NIKE JERSEY FROM 2000-2003.

So, NO, the Sebastian logo was NOT REPLACED. We got a SECONDARY logo. John Routh continued to get royalties, though in a lesser amount.

Classic you can't handle someone criticizing nike... it auto makes them pro-addidas by doing it lol. If I criticize Coke, I'm pro-pepsi according to this dumb logic

Anyways they gave us a poor design, and then put that on our helmets and on the shoulders. Luckily it was mostly transparent so that wasn't a big deal. But it is a big deal that nobody can recognize what it was unless they were miami fans.
Updating the logo isn't as bad entirely trying to replacing it. Though I will say I'm surprised looking back on it they didn't put their swoosh on the jersey Sebastian is wearing.

And I honestly don't know what MAJOR school has Nike changed (not just updated/slightly "upgraded") the logo for?

It was a combo. It's clearly the John Routh ibis, but wearing a Nike jersey.

We probably should have updated the block-M a LOOOOONG time ago. I don't care about the font on the sailor's hat very much.

The only thing I really care about, and will cut a ***** over, is the corncob pipe. And the bandages, if they ever try to get rid of that in the future (obviously they did in the Nike-jersey-version).
The ibis is also a midget. Not a fan of the green top and yellow feet. Too cartoonish. Major let down from the classic ibis.

You're so bad at reading comprehension.

I already said that I have criticized Nike for this decision for over 20 years. I never liked the alternate logo, and I certainly didn't like the rationale for the alternate logo.

Unlike you, I can see the good and the bad, from both of our past/present apparel suppliers.

Unlike me, you have pre-determined the company you love (adidas) and the company you hate (Nike) and you filter everything through that lens.

Did we have a secondary logo? Yes. Did we get rid of the earlier Sebastian logo? No.

Just cut the biased and dishonest one-sided crap.

FOR THE MILLIONTH TIME, NIKE DID NOT "CHANGE" THE LOGO. They developed an additional logo. The logo was NOT changed. Please stop lying.

I need to find my long-sleeve UM shirt that has multiple historical UM logos down the arms. **** YOU NIKE!

Really have no idea why you continue to blatantly lie that I hate nike and love adidas. **** is straight comical at this point.

Unlike me you can see the good and the bad... okay and what evidence do you have that I don't have negative opinions of adidas or good opinions of nike? lol, or are you just choosing to ignore everything that doesn't fit your lense?

This is a thread about a logo I disliked. I can dislike Nike for specific things all I want. And I don't have to state things I like about them everytime I post. It is funny that you really only actually have that policy specifically when it is Nike being discussed though lol. I guarantee you if this was an adidas/UA thread you wouldn't be demanding people go "well yeah this was bad, but I like other things they do". You accuse me of filtering everything through some anti-Nike lense, when the fact is you're filtering everyone you disagree with's responses through your own ****ed up lense where you ignore anything that proves you're wrong about that persons ACTUAL opinions on the matter. If you actually stopped trying to do insane mental gymnastics and look 10 layers deep and find meaning in what I'm NOT saying, and just took it for what I've actually said, you wouldn't constantly be acting like I'm a Nike hater lol.

What a bull****ter you are.

I have never claimed to be able to peer into your brain.

I derive valid conclusions about your Nike-hate SOLELY from what you have expressed on this board over the years. If you EVER presented balanced analysis or spoke positively of Nike or negatively of adidas, I guaran-*******-tee you that @Rellyrell and I would have noted it.

Instead, you are most known for your one-sided criticisms of Nike and your blind support of the adidas "higher cash guarantee" offer.

The rest doesn't matter. I don't care about your hemming and hawing.

Just ONE PAGE AGO, you chose to criticize Nike for something they didn't do (they did NOT "replace" the logo). Nobody cares what you buy or like or wear. The only thing that matters is you are 24-7-365 ripping one company and remaining silent on another company. You don't seem to "wonder" whether "adidas" would "treat other schools similarly" or "take advantage of us" (which adidas actually did do).

This is on you. When you ONLY rip Nike and NEVER say a bad word about adidas, then it's pretty easy to judge and label your obivous bias.

So I'm from Chicago and the other night we got a very rare severe storm that produced some tornados, it's known as a Derecho. My girl saw it and said it looks like a mini Hurricane to her. So i said well **** i guess I've never seen a hurricane from the ground perspective, only the radar and birds eye photos you see on TV.

We looked up some hurricane pictures taken from the ground online and I'm thinking oh ok i guess that's the image that the old Nike Clamshell logo was trying to recreate.

I know it's been hated since it's debut but being the Hurricanes & Nike fan that i am i decided to look up who & why they made this logo only to find out that it's not actually a Hurricane or a Clamshell, IT'S AN IBIS!! A "SLEEK" IBIS!!!

Now i was a kid when it came out in the early 2000s and hadn't been to Florida yet but I've been seeing this logo for over 20 years and had NO IDEA that this was supposed to be an ibis bird, The orange part is it's beak & head while the bottom is a wing. PLEASE tell me that I'm not the only person who just figured this out??? 😅

Klamalama are you out there?

I hate that they got rid of the spats and just made his feet look like foot shaped shoes.

A spat-less Sebastian isn’t a real Sebastian.

Understandable.

I think THAT one was some sort of issue with modern apparel.
