These kids are soft. Mike Norvell does that daily!55m is a much better indicator of football speed versus the 100m. How many times do the elite players run over 80 yards in one season? Maybe twice?

I’d say 20 or 30m would be an even better indicator. How quickly a player reaches full speed. “Long speed’ rarely matters.55m is a much better indicator of football speed versus the 100m. How many times do the elite players run over 80 yards in one season? Maybe twice?
Lamar Miller a 10.56 100 meter in highschool. 5'11 215 in college and one of the fastest RBs in at Miami.
The stopwatch queens here have always been hilarious. I remember once Lamar Miller ran a 100 time that prompted someone to say oh that's a problem, expect him to get run down from behind on any long run.
You can see the turnover in full gloryThe problem for Mike is he's usually the first one across the finish line when he races his team. These kids are soft. Mike Norvell does that daily!

Bo had obscene functional, in game speed, but his 100 meter PR was “only” 10.41. That’s very fast, especially for a 220 lb guy in the nit ‘80s, but it wasn’t what I would’ve thought someone with his football speed would run. I have a nephew that runs at Mount Union, he just started running as a senior in high school, he ran 10.68, which is pretty fast for Ohio. He actually broke the Glen Oak records of both Brian Hartline and Dustin Fox, we hate the Buckeyes.Spot on, speed matters, is part of the game and track does help. Still got to play football. Bob Hayes did great because he was fast 10.01 and could play football. 3X pro bowl and 7.4K yards.
The Dolphins had a 9.95 track guy but his nickname was oops or dropsy who played in around 10 games and had around 50 yards total. Just not a football player but had the world record.
UM used to have a lot of players on the track team. Sean Taylor and Andre Johnson were both on the track team. Both 6'3" and 230 pounds. Johnson ran a 10.59 and Taylor a 10.74 and a big reason why they were so great on the field. Johnson was the Big East 60 meter champion. Sad we never saw Taylor reach his full potential. Would have been two hall of famers. Did the title IX BS kill the men's track team?
Miami used to always have fast players and finally getting faster players in recent years. 8 or 9 guys running sub 11.00 seconds.
Bo Jackson was great because of his speed and size. Barry Sanders was fast 4.37 and 10.6 but had everything else.
