NFL Draft - RB

They are such different types of backs it will depend on what a team needs.

Gordon and Gurley will be in competition.
Duke and Abdullah will be in competition.

Gordon and Gurley have absolutely nothing in common. Duke/Gordon and Gurley/Abdullah would be more accurate in terms of running style, but hey physical measurements are convenient for assumptions when you don't actually watch the game...

I think Duke has a better career and he lasts longer being he won't be a teams 25 carry back unlike the other guys which makes his value lower.

There very few 25 carry guys anymore and this is one reason running backs do not go as high as they used to.

I think Gurleys injury drops him. With Duke he has had some injuries which could be a concern. I like how he fights off tacklers with his straight arm. One of the best I have seen. However, seems like he is a little fumble prone. You gotta protect the ball in the NFL.

I agree, but saying he will have "at a minimum a Frank Gore type of career" is an overstatement. He will be lucky to have a Frank Gore type of career. I hope he does better than Frank, but Frank just did it right in the NFL for 10 years and going with longevity being one of his greatest asset.
No way he'll have a career like Gore. Gore is bigger, more powerful, a smoother runner, better after contact, and a way better pass blocker. Duke is more explosive, but goes down to easy.

Look, I know we all have an affinity w/ Frank....but let's not forget Duke is not coming into the NFL w/ ACL injuries. What Gore is doing is nothing short of amazing. Duke's vision is there, plus he has top end speed w/ a stupid stiff arm. He can stop on a dime and the re-accelerate. He was already compared to Walter Payton b/c he's a do it all back and he doesn't shy from contact. Duke runs through tackles as well and he's a home-run hitter. I've watched every single Cane back since 87 and Duke is very special. He's doing things behind make-shift OL his entire career that no other Cane can say claim and this is only his 3rd year here. He's doing magical things w/ an incompetent coaching staff. Have you seen what Justin Forsett is doing w/ Kubiack's scheme? Let Duke get the proper coaching w/ his God given abilities and watch him go to multiple pro-bowls.

Gurley was the top back before he got injured again. Teams will stay away from him due to his injury historyyl. Gorrdon, Abdullah and Duke are all similar and the combines will determine who goes first. A good 40 and combine overall for duke and he can be the top back taken. Gurley was the only 1st rd back until he got hurt. Doubt any RB goes in the first round now. Duke will be taken on the third round no matter what at the latest.

Gurley seems to be an absolute BEAST...but so did Trent Richardson. Could go either way. Personally I think he is the best RB prospect since AP. Home run hitter who can also get you 4th and 1 yards against a stacked box.

Duke is going to be a stud in the league. Obviously a better fit in some systems, but so is everybody at the end of the day. Could have Ray Rice level success. And yes I know my first 2 comps in here were AP and Rice. Yikes.

Gordon has gotten Shady comps but as many have said in this thread that Wisconsin OL has made a lot of dudes look better than they are.

Conner is actually a nice prospect in my opinion. I saw get to the second level a couple of weekends ago and just run away from some team's defense (can't remember which team). Granted, it was an ACC team, but it gave me a sense that he is not just a Ron Dayne type. That said, Pitt is giving him 23 carries a game right now as a Sophomore, so he is going to have a ton of miles on those tires by the end of next season. He is also a non-factor in the passing game. Seems like a 3rd round pick.

Coleman at Indiana is the wild card. Nice size, has shown breakaway speed...I just haven't watched enough of him to think he is better than Duke or Gurley. I will be very interested to see if he is better than Gordon in the long run.

Abdullah is not as good as Duke.

/waits for this thread to come back and bite me in the ***
