Next Week and Butch

For the love of god people. They are going to start the interviews after the games Thanksgiving weekend and continue after the conference championship weekend including B12 final regular season date which includes Strong. Butch would be the only person they likely interview prior to that as he currently is not under contract coaching a team. With Butch in the mix, Korn Ferry will be gathering facts on all of the candidates and digging deep into Butch at UNC. They are in preparation mode until the end of the regular season. Be patient as we are likely in for a wild ride

Thank you for some sanity. Almost 100% of what has been reported up to now is complete bull****.

If you think everyone is waiting - you're outta your mind.

Too many teams already making arrangements. Too many teams looking for coaches, and the last one is guaranteed to get nothing but hind ***.

No one wants to be the "Tail-End-Charlie."

You snooze, you lose.

Look at our choices last time around. A bucket of turds, and we had to pick out which **** we wanted.

Not going to happen again.

people are ignoring who is really driving this train and whose foot is on the pedal.

shalala is no longer here....keep that in mind.

Well, you guys are going to be disappointed, because nothing will happen until the first or second week of December.

Do you really think universities will wait until after the season ends to begin their search?

Strictly as a business decision, Butch is the obvious and best choice. There is no other hire that would have the same impact on the program's production of revenue by exciting the fan base and presenting such a slam dunk for marketing. "Comes back home and will he succeed" stories attract people like bees to honey and are a no-brainer to sell.

If the Miami marketing people couldn't score bullseyes with that one, they need to seriously get into a different line of work.

The bonus is that Butch is by far the best candidate as a football decision as well based on being the RIGHT choice with the RIGHT experience and skills that Miami needs now.

As far as Herman goes, people need to really consider the obvious.

If Herman is leaving Houston, the guy that hired him there, Mack Rhoades, is the new AD at Mizzou and has already announced with Gary Pinkel stepping down, that Mizzou is seriously interested in Herman replacing him.

That certainly gives Mizzou the inside track if Herman makes a move.
Herman's to smart to get involved with the mess at Mizzou..If he is leaving SouCal will open the checkbook for him..

Butch is no ****. And therein may lie the problem. If they really do believe that Butch will be there regardless of what other schools do, that may give them the comfort level to take their time, relatively speaking. Butch's agent needs to be leaking stories about other schools looking at Butch, even if it's total bs.

At any rate, I think they are going to gauge interest from pie in the sky candidates and if no one bites, hire Butch.

Butch has been unemployed for 5 years. They are going to wait as long as they want.

Obviously anything is possible with these clowns, but it doesn't make much sense to hire the Korn Fairy if you've already made up your mind. Why hire them, then announce Butch a week later when you haven't had time to interview anyone else?

Plausible deniability of favoritism.

Claim of Due Diligence.

And, may be vetting/feeling out some of Butch's proposed coordinators.

That vetting of Butch's proposed coordinators makes a lot of sense. Would work well with Butch having been offered the gig at that lunch meeting, and all his contract terms being met. Hiring the staff is all that's left, and they don't want to pick up any taints.

I'm really hoping they didn't just waste a jillion dollars on "plausible deniability", but again, you never know.

I don't consider Butch to be a sure thing, but then I don't consider anyone a sure thing. That said, I'm hoping for the scenario you guys are laying out rather than something involving charlie or mario.

Also, I fail to see how this chick is going to be helpful...
