Next DC needs to run a 3-4 hybrid

Gotta find that space eating DT and your LB room needs to be nasty for that scheme to be effective. It'd probably take a couple recruiting cycles to pull the necessary talent for us to run a 3-4, but the way Aranda runs his 3-4 is an interesting thought for sure.
3-4 is superior but it’s hard to recruit the right personnel especially NT unless you’re Bama.
100%. Doesn't work unless you get that Wilfork at NT plus really, really good LBs which I haven't seen at Miami since Perryman or Sean Spence.

4-2-5 is a nickel defense. Most teams play 3 or nore WR predominantly. I want us to recruit taller players in the front 7. That's the main change i want particularly at LB. More Chase Smiths

We should've had James Williams and chase smith as the linebackers to begin the season.. frierson should've never got his spot given to carter.. stupid coaching doesn't know use it's special personnel smh

Manny's problem isn't the 4-2-5. His problem is his ****** blitzes and even worse spot dropping passive zone he plays behind it. Our DBs are rarely in position to make plays on the ball because they sit covering grass just staring at the QB. They never have any idea a guy is in their zone.

I think the 4-2-5 puts too much pressure on true linebackers to be better athletes than most are at that position. Would need to recruit more safeties like a Keontra Smith and make them linebackers bc (not enough) true linebackers of quality don’t seem to want to risk playing in a strictly 4-2-5 system.
This isn’t true. There isn’t anything wrong with a 4-2-5. The problem is diaz philosophy with it

But is it a National Championship caliber defense?

Can't recall a team that's won a Natty in the 4-2-5, nor the Air Raid.
4-2-5 is just a nickel defense. Bama is in nickel most of the time they call their extra db the star position. Clemson played basically a 4-2-5 when they had Simmons. Even tho he was lining up every where he played most at their hybrid position which they call it sam/nb.

Doesn’t matter what you play. It’s how you play it. That’s all

I’d like to see us move to more of a 3-3-5.

I think we should be more Multiple in general & have the versatility to switch personnel depending on the team we play.

Running a 3-4 would take a while to properly transition into, just like for those that want us to become a Power run team on Offense, we simply don’t have the personnel to become this slow pace “Run the ball & play stout Defense” team that yall want. We’re not a SEC/B1G team & we can’t become one overnight, the key to becoming like those teams are all centered around recruiting & developing Woolly Mammoths in the trenches & that takes a couple of classes to get the talent level fully acclimated into the system.

The 4-2-5 isn’t the issue, it’s how we run it & who Diaz chooses to play while running it.

But I’m not against switching to a whole new defense in general, just as long as we get a new HC who brings in a legit DC & allows that DC to bring in a good LB’s coach (if he’s not already one himself) & a legit DLine coach too.

I’m in favor of keeping TRob if he wants to stay, but if not, we’ll need a legit DB recruiter too & someone who understands exactly what to look for in a cover corner. Fact is, DVD is just too green to be a full time position coach.
No it wouldn’t. We have the personnel to do it right now. All our rush ends for the most part were Jack backs in high school and JHH might be even better playing 5 tech especially with LT plays the 4 and Jordan Miller being the nose. Our LBer play will probably improve as well.

You have a poor understanding of this roster if you actually think that.

TCU'S defensive coordinator Chad Glasgow runs a historically killer 4-2-5 and he will be looking for work come December.

Glasgow's defense would be a plug and play scheme for Miami and he has put several DB's into the nfl so if Trob left Glasgow could still salvage our DB recruits. Not to mention his 4-2-5 is predicated on bringing pressure from the dline alllllllll day, regardless of the back 7 calls. Manny during several off seasons should have gone to spend with the TCU coaching staff, it could have helped him.

Jon Heacock Iowa State's DC runs an innovative 3-3-5 defense but I think it maybe to a little to complicated to implement well in just 1 year. He is an excellent teacher though.

Tony White Who is currently Syracuse's DC and is a Rocky Long disciple. For those that don't know Rocky Long is the Mike Leach of the 3-3-5 defense, his defenses bring pressure just getting off the bus. Also Tony White is supposedly a monster recruiter also, which is something Mario likes.

Tony White comes in at the 33:00 mark.

All about the horses you have, Krazy. When we recruit better, a 4-2-5/3-4/4-3/3-3-5, all can work pending your personnel. Our lb’s suck, tremendously..so idk if switching to that any time soon would be the right move. We need to minimize the amount of LBs on the field, not add more lol.

I personally prefer the 4-2-5 and getting your hybrid guys on the back end in there to better defend the way that football is trending. But gotta have 2 LBs that can run and strike, we don’t lol.
See, that's the whole thing. Manny's D can be great with the right players, but he's decided to pull an al and stick with it when he doesn't have the DL for it. I don't know why adaptability is so rare in coaches.

i dont think it matters what alignment you use
we need a guy who emphasizes fundamental football
like tackling and knowing your assignments and someone who will hold players accountable for mistakes
