And that lofty stature in the College Football world led UF to hire three coaches since 2002 — Ron Zook, Will Muschamp and Jim McEltoof — who lasted a combined 10 seasons before the axe fell.

The Gators might get it right — maybe Dan Mullen from Mississippi State follows his former AD and returns to Gainesville — but there are almost no guarantees for success at programs where the bar is set high.
