I don't think many of us remember what it's like to have a real professional staff. Should be interesting to see what a real staff of coaches can do.

Agreed. We've gone cheap so long.... Even when we were GOOD we were cheap. Now we're actually spending money to get real coaches in here. This has never happened here, that I can remember at least.

I mean I want beard to stay b/c I'm sentimental and he's an ex cane but I realize right is bringing in real coaches. Beard may be UM ready in a few years, but, not now.

I don't know, our WRs certainly took a step forward this year. A big step.

Did you watch the bowl game? Horrible routes, lazy, terrible focus, dumb penalties.

The guy has no business being a coach at this program. Being a former player doesn't give u the right to coach here.

I bet they saw that YouTube video, though.

Herb Waters was running blatantly garbage routes during that game. I don't even notice that stuff usually but it was horrid.

Our WR play was a lot better this year than before he got here. One game doesn't mean squat. If it did, Coach D would be retained.

What games in particular did our WR's look "better" and can you point to specific players in those games?

Our WR play was ******* horrible this year. What are you talking about?

That YouTube video..
That YouTube video created an instant legend. I remember when all these clowns were slobbering over what a great hire we made with Beard after that YouTube video surfaced while a couple of us were cautioning that his résumé consisted of a year as a HS assistant and a year as a secretary at UM.

Now all we've heard all year is that "our WRs look better". No one has a clue, but that's the line they're parroting.

Our WRs definitely did not improve this year. Coley is still basically the same player he was as a freshman, Scott looked just the same in '12, Waters was much better in '13, and Berrios/Brady/Cager were negligible in their impact.

Golden's first staff had some pretty good offensive assistants - Richardson, McDonald, Fisch in particular. Believe all left for promotions and were replaced by "recruiters" with almost 0 experience at the college or pro level at their respective positions. Can't think of any good assistants under Shannon, except maybe Petri. I think he only had 1 year but there did seem to be some noticeable improvement from him. Been a long time since this school's had a coaching staff capable of getting the most out of guys. For more than a decade we've seemingly been getting the least.

Never saw the YouTube video

It was a video I think from spring practice where he was basically telling the wide receivers to actually do something and work on their craft. It was clear from the video that nobody had told them to do that in the previous 4 years.

The phrase "Miami won the <insert coach name here> sweepstakes" is actually being used. That has NEVER been the case before. Ohhhh, it's good to FINALLY have a HC people want to work for AND be willing to spend to get them. The good Doctor Frenkenstein is okay in my book.

i watched game. but in defense of beard players for most of year were better then last year. scott had a horrible game and they didn't throw to stacey coley enough but penalties have hurt team for years. its on the head coach there. beard did a solid job. bowl game was a disaster for rashawn scott though. although finally at end he looked like scott of whole season. early was really bad th ough.

For real. Pollack tweeted a little bit ago praising the hire.

Can't think of the last time anyone in the media even batted an eyelash at one of our position coach/coordinator hires.
