Surprise! Husky Stadium, home of the University of Washington Huskies, holds the record for loudest college football stadium with a whopping 133.6 decibel level. The record was set way back in 1992 during a game against Nebraska, so we'll forgive you for having no idea that these purple-clad athletes were No. 1. Husky Stadium's insane capacity for noise is due to its two gray overhangs on either side, which trap sound and bounce it back toward the field below. A packed Husky Stadium could mean serious eardrum damage, which means you could be telling kids to "turn down that **** music" much sooner than you'd like.

I see a new record for the FSU game.

Yeah, and it's enclosed. The four video screens will only make it louder. Once people see how loud it can get, they're going to try even harder to keep it loud, like they do in Seattle, for the Seahawks.

This thread should be a monument to idiots living in the past.

Lets rehash this again next year for the 10 year reunion of the OB demo circle-jerk.

The new stadium looks gorgeous and is going to be one of the loudest venues in college. I for one can't wait to be there in 15 days.

@ElectrikOne yes, we did studies. A lot louder

I like the new stadium but it has no character. College football is about tradition and this place is corporate. I get it but it's not going to be special until we get our own place. Hopefully in due time.

You do realize this stadium is owned by an NFL corporation...the Miami Dolphins. Every single decision they made was for the Dolphins and future national and world wide events to be held there. Our canes had zero influence on Ross's decision to renovate. We just rent, plain and simple.

Yup. It's privately owned by a billionaire who just sunk 400+ million of his own dollars into renovating it into one of the premier stadiums in American sports. Unlike the Orange Bowl, that was owned by the city of Miami. The city that refused to renovate or improve the stadium in any way. All they did was sit back and collect a rent check from UM while the stadium slowly fell apart to the point where it was no longer safe. So, unless you're willing to pony up a couple hundred million to build a stadium specifically for the Hurricanes, you should enjoy the fact that they now pay rent in an upscale, well maintained building instead of a POS government housing project.

I love the new stadium. There will be a good buzz around there with Richt and staff for this program. I am just tired of fans complaining about how this isn't the orange bowl and how there won't be a "college football" feel to it hah Fans make the stadium what it is by showing up just as much as stadium renovations.

The first thing I got excited about was the sound, not the shade. The amount of sound that will be reflected, and what that will do for home field advantage is huge. The stadium upgrade is so big I don't think we'll really be able to appreciate it until we see/hear it in person.

Lmao OP got destroyed for posting a harmless thread.

NO. OP, and others, get destroyed for being overly sentimental caulksuckers, who instead of enjoying a new state-of-the-art facility, constantly bītch about "corporate ownership" and "college atmosphere" like brainwashed rubes. Waxing nostalgic about an unkempt dump that's been dead and buried for ten years.

Get over it. That place is gone. It's never coming back. Move on, ladies

Miami will never get it's own place, but they can make what they have their own. Miami made the Orange Bowl special because of the streak and the teams that played there. The move to the new stadium coincided with Miami basically sucking for more than 10 years. The team has done nothing to make this place special, but maybe now they can.

Gotcha. I mistook your first post as complaining. My bad. You're right though. I've been to a few other college stadiums and while some are better than others, most can't compare to the renovated Hard Rock. If anything, most newer college stadiums are like giant high school football fields with crappy looking metal bleachers.

The beauty of the OB was how compact it was. Son Life should have a cozier feel with the roof but the OB at night will always be a different animal. **** I remember being at a game against ECU in 1989 with about 35k people. The place got so loud our defensive players were waving their arms downward asking people to quiet down.

Cannot have a stadium thread without mentioning fans telling other fans to sit down.

This is a phenomenon I have witnessed at several venues. I don't particularly care for it.
