new running plays?

there's this narrative that pringle's success was due to new plays ... and i don't see it ... yeah we pulled a few linemen (play everyone is referring to is at the 1:30 mark) on a play or two, but we been doing that since florida ... pringle just has a burst that the other guys don't have along with an ability to make people miss

He can also run through smaller gaps that our big backs can't. Pair that with quick feet, and he makes the oline look a lot better.

I think this is kinda like Dawson presser where he wants to go over the media head when they dont know the nuance, the thing most people talked about was the condensed sets and running duo right up center.. In the video you put, there was only one run that looked like inside zone (least productive run in highlight package) the rest seemed like counter plays which no one had issue with and were asking for earlier in season! lol..

The condensed sets inviting more defenders in box and just diving into scrum was always the main issue, we did not condense many sets and try to run thru 11 man boxes thinking we can caveman ball our way to first downs, TDS, Championships.. There were subtle changes which is all many were asking. Everything presented has worked but its cool, he can go off on Ferman and such.. JUST WIN!!

they may be the same plays, but the formations, timing and sequence are RADICALLY different. pass first, then run.

i can agree that there weren't many bunch sets ... but there also wasn't anything new ... i've seen each of our backs get similar play calls ...
 
Agree. Think it's much more a combo of Pringle running really well and our OL getting better at blocking guys when they pull than some seismic shift in running plays and scheme. I think the biggest change we have made is that we have pulled CiCi more, which is smart and perplexing why we would usually pull Cooper from the right side instead of CiCi for most of the year.

I also think Beck getting untracked from the first scoring drive against 'Cuse through NC St has helped our run game a ton. He averaged just 6.8 ypa against UF/UL/Stanford/SMU. He has averaged 12.7 ypa from the 'Cuse scoring drive onwards. Our RBs have averaged 6.3 ypc with Beck in the game during that same period (would be even higher but for a couple of dud Lyle runs against 'Cuse). Opposing defenses were selling out to stop the run - in part - because they had no fear of Beck challenging them deep or our WRs catching a short pass and running a long ways. They were usually right. There's a lot more space recently because Beck is playing well and making defenses defend the entire field.

Caveat is 'Cuse and NC St defenses are awful, but good news: VTech's defense is awful too.

Same plays, different results. Some of it is the defenses played against.

In the coaches presser yesterday Dawson said they’re running the same run plays with maybe some different motions or blocking schemes.

Dawson said in his presser that they are not new running plays (same as earlier this year and even last year), just that we are running them out of different formations.

He also said something similar to what you are saying about Beck. He said the terminology at Georgia was significantly different and there has been a steep learning curve for Beck, especially because he missed the entire spring and didn't throw for several weeks. He analogized it to Beck speaking two different languages at once and the Georgia language was still his primary even as the games were getting started (and specifically mentioned him using Georgia terminology in the ND game).

Another interesting comment from Dawson in his presser was that he does not care what the defensive coverages are. His system is based on progressions, having your eyes in the right place, and trusting what you see. Dawson's assessment is that Beck started to turn the corner with the SMU game and he is very happy with what he has been doing recently based on his film review.

I started to use achane as the example, but achane has world class speed ... that being said 10.6 is moving
 
Coaches are dumb.

They are the same plays. But they're executed differently.

So that was always an option? It just took you 10 games and 2 losses to implement the change.

Same with having Pringle on the roster.

You dont realize in practice and the off-season that hes starter caliber? Wait til game 10 to learn that?

Whatever these coaches say only pulls down the camo on their incompetence.
