Ori/Relly can correct me if I’m wrong, but the decision makers are thisclose with Messi and so we are going to cater to him and keep UM with Adidas. I guess the thinking is that Messi can take his ball and go elsewhere if Miami is not an adidas school?

I must have some stuff mixed up because just reading that makes NO freaking sense.

It's not just "Messi himself". He didn't tell Jose and Jorge "sign with adidas or else".

It's the fact that adidas has been speaking with Jose and Jorge for the last couple of years.

And if someone starts to believe the horse**** that adidas is pushing, then it makes it very likely to do MORE business with adidas.

Which is actually what is happening now. Lots of promises of special uniforms and throwbacks and improved merchandise.

adidas is same-****-different-day. They always promise stuff they don't deliver. Go look it up, I included 12-year-old adidas-via-Peter-Ariz promises in the Mega Nike/adidas thread.

But I thought Jose and Jorge were better than that? They REALLY about to be conned by Adidas? Do those two not have anyone giving them historical anectodal evidence like you just provided?

Take a look at how many things adidas failed to deliver. And now we have EVEN MORE "promises" related to our second (proposed) contract...

3. Has Miami been pushed into the forefront of the adidas marketing campaign? No.

4. Did adidas model the base uniforms after the 1980s? Maybe, after a MASSIVE failure with the original uniforms.

5. Did we ever get the "black cleat concept with the eye of a hurricane popping out on the side of the shoe"? No.

Do we care less about the Adidas/Nike conversation since the program is back on it an upward trajectory? No, we care even more now.
Has it hurt recruiting? I would say YES.

Someone needs to get this to Jorge and Jose. They can’t be that tone deaf to not even open it up.
 
I don’t care much about apparel. Only thing I care about is how we look on game days. I have no interest in being east coast Oregon or special uniforms for big games. We have an iconic look and it shouldn’t be touched. I still have nightmares about the garbage Nike had us wearing during the golden years. Have we all forgotten about the Christmas ornament helmets. The camouflage adidas put us in this year was horrendous. Just be confident and embrace your history. Strong programs do that. Whoever promises to keep us looking like classic Miami I support. Don’t really care who that is.

Exactly I don’t care about 100 plus uniform combinations. Stick to the traditional uniforms nobody complains about Bama, LSU, Michigan, USCw, Texas, or Jawja forever wearing clean traditional looks

Second rate programs looking for an “edge” worry about flashy sparkly uniforms.

adidas never can provide exciting product… **** even for the final 4 run it seemed like they slapped together the most basic shirts with screen printing that even the guy at the mall would call cheap.

.... Adidas is going to offer us a deal where they tangibly pay us more money, its pretty simple. You can talk about all broken promises but at the end of the day extra $ can outweigh that. And if the $ is in a whole different tier than what Nike is offering then it is what it is.

Since we’re on the topic of equipment, etc. can somebody please explain to me what is the deal with certain players using two mouth guards instead of one? I just don’t get it, especially when one of them keeps flying off like every other play. Apologies to the OP, not trying to derail the convo, but I didn’t want to start an entire conversation topic just for something like this, but it does have me asking questions 😂.

Quarter zip is actually pretty nice for what it is (nothing is stitched obviously, so who knows how long it lasts but the fit is solid and has more weight to it than I expected). Sleeves run a little short, but I’m tallish and my arms are on the longer side

Hat feels cheap tbh
