Messi?! As in the world famous soccer star? TF?! I must’ve been tuned out for a minute cause I don’t remember reading about the Messi stipulation.

Mas brothers have an obvious interest w Messi. Keep Messi and adidas happy, keep the cash cow going
 


Sounds like we will be FORCED to stay with Adidas. But can we at least get some better commitments to materials/custom fitting of unis?

Someone needs to show the MAs brothers that Adidas is a laughingstock when it comes to unis.
 
Is the new adidas deal locked in or they gonna at least give Jordan/Nike a legit shot to throw an offer out?

Football team is back on the rise
Basketball team is energized and is recruiting well with some nice recent runs
Baseball program feels in a “good” spot again
Plus feels like the school, boosters, and fan base are energized and putting money in to the product to succeed

Ori/Relly can correct me if I’m wrong, but the decision makers are thisclose with Messi and so we are going to cater to him and keep UM with Adidas. I guess the thinking is that Messi can take his ball and go elsewhere if Miami is not an adidas school?

I must have some stuff mixed up because just reading that makes NO freaking sense.

It's not just "Messi himself". He didn't tell Jose and Jorge "sign with adidas or else".

It's the fact that adidas has been speaking with Jose and Jorge for the last couple of years.

And if someone starts to believe the horse**** that adidas is pushing, then it makes it very likely to do MORE business with adidas.

Which is actually what is happening now. Lots of promises of special uniforms and throwbacks and improved merchandise.

adidas is same-****-different-day. They always promise stuff they don't deliver. Go look it up, I included 12-year-old adidas-via-Peter-Ariz promises in the Mega Nike/adidas thread.

But I thought Jose and Jorge were better than that? They REALLY about to be conned by Adidas? Do those two not have anyone giving them historical anectodal evidence like you just provided?

Take a look at how many things adidas failed to deliver. And now we have EVEN MORE "promises" related to our second (proposed) contract...
