MEGA New Miami Adidas Ultraboost🔥 - The Shoe and Nike/Adidas Thread.

Welp, now that Nike has become aggressive on NIL signing
Jett Washington
Mark Bowman
Aaliyah Chavez
Brandon McCoy
Tyran Stokes

Plus they r beginning to sign college athletes to NIL, it’s going to become increasingly harder for our sports programs, particularly basketball, to obtain elite recruits.

What’s crazy is they just extended Adidas in 2024, but apparently it was only for 2 yrs. I guess they weren’t valued any longer w the huge payouts made towards UTenn & PSU. However going from Adidas to UA is hustling backwards.
According to the article they are getting about 6X what their current deal with Adidas is worth. I would not call that hustling backwards.

U guys r so fixated on $$ & don’t look at:

1. The effects on recruiting
2. Ability to fulfill contractual conditions

UA is only trading at $5/share right now. UA doesn’t have the resources like that, & they are $100m+ tied to ND. They r barely holding on themselves as an apparel company & every business strategy has failed. So what’s the likelihood GT is treated like Cincy, UCLA, or Cal?

So this is y I said it’s hustling backwards b/c this is a risky partnership in both recruiting & fulfillment

Alright who put Herbie up to this? My guy goes scorched earth on Adidas, then zeroes in our Adidas uni's.

"Miami's uniforms are a disgrace they need to go back to Nike!"

I thought it was a bit at first but he definitely meant that, even the guys afterwards were baffled.
Between calling out our admin in 2021 and now this I'm convinced Herbstreit posts on here.

Does Kirk have a Nike apparel deal? What a weird thing to focus on. For all he did for UM with the vocal change he seems to really not like Mario the last two seasons. Not sure if there was some beef there but his tone has changed a ton with UM.

Last time he said something like this, a LOT of things changed lol. Does it happen twice?

Came here to post this as well lol Herby helping us AGAIN. Granted, this is the best adidas has been. But I still prefer Nike

For a guy that's typically such a pro's pro, he really went way off the reservation to make those comments about our uni's. Idk if @Rellyrell has been in his ear or what but it gave me Miami/Nike agenda vibes, which I'm not mad at if it steers us in that direction.

As far as general hate from him towards Miami I wouldn't say I've picked up on anything that's felt out of pocket. He's typically pretty fair when assessing us. He was even throwing up the U at Noles in Tally last week -- so as far as national media types he's good with me.

So I’ll chime in, b/c u guys don’t pay attention to details as closely as I do.

Even though Adidas’ new slogan on X after they were blasted in 2022 is “it’s all in the details” (literally copying Nike’s story template behind each thread & fabric), it couldn’t be further from the truth.

First the positive: Adidas has come a loooooong ways in both design & material used. The material they r currently using for their premiere programs aka chasis is actually Nike’s old template from the early - mid 2000’s. It’s not one of one, of course, but it’s the same concept (Revolution).

With that said, here’s why Adidas is still light yrs behind:
1. The fit: Adidas doesn’t provide customizable fits: it’s small, medium, large, extra-large, etc. Everyone’s body type is different. Here’s where Nike excels: They provide majority of their P4 programs w fit tech where they do both body scans & foot scans to make sure each jersey/cleat is fitted according to each player.

2. Aesthetics: I pointed this out when Adidas’ newest chasis came out. In fact, & I hate to do this, but I remember @brock being geeked when Adidas provided us w their “premium” jersey materials in 2016 & 2018. The results? The introduction of us being known as “The V” with their strawberry & stretchable corduroy materials distorting numbers & logos. Now w this faux Revolution template, the seams bleeds, thus distorting the numbers (see our #10 jerseys as examples). B/c of this oversight, u see the imperfections.

3. Font: Adidas has yet to get the font right on any of their schools. Many of their G5 programs have two different name plate fonts, while the P4 programs have HS level NOB plates. The results are NOBs (Name on The Back) look very elementary-ish and uneven.

4. Cleats: B/c Adidas specializes in Futbol Boots, these designs often bleed over to their American Football cleats. Take a gander at Texas A&M retro cleats for their 1975 faux throwback, & even TAMU fans have said the cleats throw off the unis.

5. Cool Factor: Adidas has a tendency to over play its 3 stripes. While some of it is natural, the 3 stripes become more representative than the unis themselves, & that’s by design. One of the gripes I’ve seen from Liverpool fans, for instance, is they felt their kits became a walking billboard for Adidas vs. Liverpool (although I like their kits; actually I like most of Adidas futbol kits). One of the things that stood out to me during some of the team gathering events we’ve had is how many of our players don’t rock Adidas outside of campus.

So Herbie is just saying what’s real: Adidas is much better today than it was just 3 yrs ago, but there’s little things that r glossed over & it’s either they don’t have the tech for it or it’s just not paid attention to.

I vehemently deny these allegations….lol…although I may know a friend or two or five at ESPN. Lol

So I might have missed this, but we didn’t reup with Adidas yet, right? We going to do a RFP of some type to see what others bring?
