Brotha, congrats!
Didn't even realize this was a lottery win post, thats dope. So, Is this run not extremely limited given they're selling at 230? I know the original was just a run of 72...

This type of **** truly makes me laugh out loud. One of the largest apparel brands in the world can’t QC this stuff is fascinating to me…. In the most incompetent ways imaginable. With all these media day pictures coming out, one thing I noticed is how the U on some jerseys isn’t centered correctly. A small detail but annoying that to this day, Adidas can’t do the little things right.
I know I’m a week late on this but…OK, so I wanted to place a full spotlight on the absolute incompetence of Blake James as an AD, & furthermore the malpractice of Miami’s BOT for signing off on this:
Miami switched from Nike to Adidas officially on July 31, 2015, w/ the contract set to expire July 31, 2027. At the time, it was heralded as a landmark deal, making Miami one of the highest paid schools in CFB. However, as more details began to leak, it soon became apparent this deal was a favorable one for Adidas. The initial report was that our deal would be roughly around $8m, but it was soon discovered that it was closer to the $6.8-$7.2 range.
Again on paper this looked great, until u realized this was primarily in apparel & merchandise. It also leaked royalties were excluded from this deal. I just want to show how egregious this deal was compared to the following:
-In August 2015, Texas A&M extended Adidas for a 8 yr term at $7.1m + royalties. They renewed again in 2023 for 5 yrs $47m + royalties. In case u’re keeping up, Texas A&M has had two contract renewals at a higher evaluation in the same time frame we’ve been stuck in our one.
-In August 2014, UL extended Adidas for a 5 yr term at $7.4m + royalties. Before UL’s 5 yr extension was set to expire in 2019, Adidas replaced that contract in Aug. 2017 with a brand new 10 yr term at $160m. Again in case u’re keeping up: our deal, compensation wise, was on par w/ UL. Adidas. Despite the success we had w Richt (e.g. in 2016-17 we were 9-4 w/ a bowl victory while UL was 9-4 coming off a bowl loss), Adidas decided to make UL the highest paid ACC team prior to the original extension expiring.
-In July 2013, KU signed a 6 yr term at $6.5m/yr which was set to expire July 2019. Once again out of nowhere, Adidas in July 2017, replaces the 2013 contract 2 yrs early with a new 14 yr $196m contract + royalties. [See above for the same situation]
-In June 2013, Nebraska signed a 50/50 apparel deal (cash/equipment) for 5 yrs at approx. $3m/per. In June 2018, Nebraska renewed the same 50/50 deal, this time for 11 yrs at approx. $12m/yr.
-In July 2018, UW also signed a 50/50 deal with Adidas similar to Nebraska’s payout ($12m/yr)
-In July 2016 NCSt extended Adidas for 6 yrs at approx. $6.5m/ yr. They renewed again in 2022, & while the details of the contract was not made public, their AD said it was a considerable increase from their previous contract w NIL implications.
While we’ve been stuck others have benefited two folds; so I don’t want to hear that Adidas has been a good partner for us. We were suckered into a sweetheart deal for them, & other schools, including our rivals in the ACC benefited & have lapped us during this time frame.
That is so cool - congratulations!!!So there are going to be two versions of this.
There will be a "friends and family" version, which is very limited and will have the Jumpman logo on the heel tab, and there will be a wider release that will have the Nike Air logo on the heel tab. This lottery is part of the wider release.
The first drop was a Nike pop-up event in Chicago, that one already happened. Anyone displaying the shoe on a video got the shoe via primary or secondary resale distribution from that event.
Then Undefeated had a "general" lottery and five "in-person" lotteries for live drops (today) in NY, Vegas, Phoenix, LA, and San Francisco. I entered all six lotteries. EQL gave "priority" for the in-person lotteries to people whose addresses were "local", and I lost every single in-person lottery. The thing is, you could enter the "general" lottery first, but it was the last to be announced. So after 5 consecutive losses, I was shocked to win the general lottery.
Finally, they are doing the online drop this morning at 8 am PST. The rumor was that Undefeated would have about 3,000 pairs, seems like it is more, but I have no idea. There is also a rumor that SNKRS will do a drop at the end of August. We shall see.
It's still a great shoe, and the VERY FIRST Jordan collaboration. Sotheby's auctioned one of the original 72 pairs for $50,000. If I can score a second pair, these will become my new gameday shoes.
Bruh… dem ***** look like something that Sebastian would rock to a game. TF?!Wtf are these?!?!? Might be the ugliest shoe I've ever seen ! Man we gotta leave adidas asap
I realize that any minute, we are going to have Beta-Blake/adidas fanboys showing up to tell us how we are COMPLETELY different from Kentucky.
But still.
---$76.5 million over 10 years on just the base-payment side.
---ADDITIONAL FIFTEEN PERCENT royalty (remember the royalty rate I quoted previously?).
---Potential football "success" bonuses of $230K per year, and $50K per year for basketball (other amounts for other sports).
---Does not include what will be paid for equipment (not disclosed yet).
---Does not include what will be paid for marketing activation (not disclosed yet).
The largest reported contract between Nike and a college is the 15-year, $252 million deal the company signed with Ohio State in 2016. Louisville signed the largest reported contract with Adidas in 2017 for $160 million over 10 years.
