Can someone in the know shed some light on why I/anyone can't find one? What's the story here? It's a very popular brand that works with just about everyone. Can someone make this make sense?

Your best bet is to get one of the New Era hats that stretches.
In the era of Fanatics and managing-inventory, I think the only fitted hats you are going to be able to find will be the "official" apparel company for each school. Hope you like adidas...
What size do you wear? I have one that I only wore a few times that I haven't worn in a long time. It's either a 7 and 1/8 or 7 and 1/4.Can someone in the know shed some light on why I/anyone can't find one? What's the story here? It's a very popular brand that works with just about everyone. Yeah my assumption has been the apparel provider “lets” the universities cut some deals with New Era because the 5950s would naturally be in demand because they’re 5950s. Ain’t no one buying badger sports MIT cap even if the players wear it (making the example up) but guarantee there’s a boatload of SABR fans who would scoop up the 5950 in a heartbeat. Thanks for the reply. This is what I feared. I am not rocking an Adidas fitted, though.
I have some fitted hats from other universities. I doubt New Era is the official apparel company for: St. John's, Columbia, and NYU.
Gotta be more to this.

Particularly because they’re no competition for many of these smaller university brands. I think the U is still big enough of a brand that Adidas wants to protect it and preclude third parties from cutting into sales. So that language would likely have been included in the contract (I think that document was posted here somewhere).
Not that one school is any one big revenue provider for a sole product but repeated… maybe it does help. That will conclude my rambling conjecture.
A man who may know: @Rellyrell
I always look at a school’s online bookstore for such and have some other schools’ 5950s; none of them major programs though.
i actually like the 47 brand hats. they have a canes one.Your best bet is to get one of the New Era hats that stretches.

What are you trying to say...May I ask ur age range?
Serious question, is that an ugly hat?May I ask ur age range?
ThanksI thought so; no, it’s not an ugly hat. I, too, have a couple of 47 hats, but they are not remotely my preferred brand. New Era is what today’s athletes, baseball players, young adults sport. My pops like 47-esq type of hats b/c he likes the stretch feel to them.
Yeah, we don’t really do stretchy fitted (lol); but, again, it’s not an ugly hat. I only got it b/c it’s vintage, & I have a vintage sweater I got from another vintage, university online store, so it matched. Also, the other vintage I purchased the orange is spot on w/ the Nike Miami Hurricanes dunks, so it was a great buy.
