New Barry Jackson Piece Shows We’re Fvcked

If we could somehow land highsmith in a GM position we’d be back in a year or two.

... these false expectations are as bad as anything Manny or Blake are doing / have done.

The mere hiring of Alonzo Highsmith isn't going to have Miami "back in 1-2 years. Stop it.

You think the mere hiring of Highsmith is going to turn a 15th ranked recruiting class into Top 3—or that the man's mere presence would change a 15-year cultural issue? C'mon now.

The perennial anonymous BOT going to Barry Jackson, big phucking YAWN
The guy on Rutgers BoT went public and blasted the school, which led to Schiano getting hired.

UM needs their influential BoT members to speak up and have some honest conversations to fix this pit of quicksand that they and Blake James have put us in

For the zillionth time, you get what you pay for—and what you can afford.

Miami football is currently a two-bedroom condo and all y'all want a mansion.

All the SEC powers that dominate the landscape; they do so behind the money of monster alumni bases and their financial support.

Miami gamed the system years back and played a different brand of football, with better athletes—back before the sport became big money—and that level of athleticism gave UM a competitive advantage.

The rest of the sport caught up, athletes are everywhere and now money is the differentiating factor in this game—where most now have a competitive advantage over the University of Miami; a private school with 11,000 undergrads and a fan base made up of mostly non-alum who don't write big checks.

For UM to invest more money into the program—money that is coming from the university and not an alumni base writing big checks—that's not how this works. Georgia's $200,000,000 upgrade to their program was mostly driven by alumni dollars.

Let me know the day Miami's alumni base is writing checks at that level—and I'll let you know the day UM will get out there and hire a next-level AD and head coach. Until then, again, you get what you pay for.

This program ain't what it once was—and will never get back to what you saw decades back. Get used to it.

Or this article is to just make it seem the Board feels what the fans feel so we settle down for now. Then we see the same struggles next year. Manny fires Enos to buy more time. Then if he continues to fail he is out and we are stuck with Blake ******** up again all while the BoT are making money and not staying emotionally invested in the program like we are.
In time we will see but that article if true what happens to Diaz in another year will affect others in that athletic department.I say to everyone now just walk away enjoy the holidays with families and don't give them the satisfaction of destroying your peace and tranquility.

Yup. After Chris Ash was in his fourth season, compiled a record of 8-32, went 1-11 year three and started his fourth season 1-4.

There's a reason that BoT member went scorched earth with that run.

Manny Diaz went 6-6 after one year, having taken over a program act was 7-9 since it's 10-0 start in 2017.

If you can't see the difference between the two situations—there's nothing else to tell you.

Had Diaz gone 2-10 this year at Miami like Ash did his first season at Rutgers—there wouldn't have been a year two—and you'd have gotten the "blasting" of the school you wanted.

6-6 sucks, but it's not 2-10 or 1-11.

My favorite shtick on here is that we need to boycott Miami athletics if we ever want change. Sure, cutting off donations will surely help the school open up the checkbook for the right coaches.

Wasn’t that $200,000,000 for the school as a whole? And it isn’t all cash. It’s companies donating computers, furniture, food, etc. A contractor doing work will also make a “donation” while being extremely over paid.

We have one person who just donated $85 Million

Barry Jackson is the one beat writer who has covered the Canes during this abysmal stretch fairly. If I ever see him out & about, drinks are on me. Buckle up boys. Russian roulette with how Manny responds.

How does he say all of that but then says he would be surprised if Manny fires Enos? We’re fckd

A BoT’s interns/law school students/minions assisted the mother’s legal team in a case in the Dallas, TX area, where the mother was fighting to give her son, 7 years old, a *** change.

Are you familiar with that BoT’s self-proclaimed “landmark” case? It led to a repeal of *** adoption in Florida (which isn’t the problem). However, it wasn’t really adoption in the modern sense of the word. It was a *** guy and his lover who were picking young kids off the streets in Miami. BTW, his lover was also picked up off the streets and admitted he was picked up as a minor (after the case and after they broke up)

Furthermore, said BoT claims she was instrumental in repealing the ban on *** adoption in Florida. She wasn’t. She wasn’t even a part of the team. She was a part of a team representing the children that were being picked up by the old *** guy. She had one of her own “psychiatrist’ come in and claim the children needed to be with the older *** guy.

IMO, if you are representing the children, you should be doing a honest, thorough job of determining what would be best for the children. Not using this an opportunity to be able to claim you helped repeal a State ban on *** adoption.

In her world, she views LGBTQ rights as the next Civil Rights movement. I find that insulting
Just. Wow.

It’s sad to be justifying anything based off of Rutgers decisions. What do you think our record would be with Rutgers schedule?

You are a clown if you don’t take into account the level of talent in place, the soft @ss Coastal schedule, the manner in which Manny was hired, the way Manny was hyping and trash talking about this team, and the manner in which the offense crapped the bed and regressed

Every ounce of criticism in the Barry Jackson article is 1000000% deserved.

It’s been talked about ad nauseam, but how Blake James went rogue to hire Manny makes no sense and I hope they both get canned over it. This type of thing shouldnt be allowed to happen but it did

I give the BOT credit for at least coming out and saying SOMETHING, even if it was done unofficially, anonymously, and even if they didn’t tell us everything we wanted to hear.

It was getting to be like North Korea over in Coral Gables. So at least someone is talking to Barry Jackson.

Some snipets:

— “As for athletic director Blake James, the trustee said his job is safe.

“He’s done a great job of fundraising, won awards for athletic directors,” the trustee said. “Our student graduation rate is one of the highest in the country.”

— “That trustee said school president Julio Frenk “supports Blake. [Former president] Donna Shalala would fire an athletic director she wasn’t happy with, but Julio would leave it to the board. He’s not a sports enthusiast like Donna was.”

—“I would be surprised if Diaz simply fires Enos, but a parting certainly cannot be ruled out, considering UM’s offensive problems and Enos’ history of changing jobs. I would be surprised if Diaz doesn’t make at least one significant change in some aspect of the program. James does not believe in forcing coaches to dismiss assistant coaches.”

Thanks, this is why I won't spend another dime irrespective of if we sign 14 5 stars on signing day.
