This Florida game is huge for Miami and for Manny Diaz. Miami's fan base loves to butter itself up with offseason hype and Diaz has taken that to new levels. It will come crashing down for a lot of impatient Miami fans with a loss August 24th against Florida, and there isn't another nationally meaningful game on Miami's schedule until November when they battle FSU in Tallahassee.

If dopes jump off the TNM train after one game then they were never on it.

Lots of people seem to forget how well Uif was playing the end of LY as compared to us, a win would be epic, but if you hitch your thoughts on the team and Diaz on that one game you're not too bright.

I expect to win, but the first game in a rebuild is virtually inconsequential to anyone with an IQ over 78. ****, we won a NC in a season we lost the first game to Ufayg.

That's true but Miami fans have heard it all before (Golden) and have experienced what can happen when you promote the coordinator (Coker & Shannon). A lot of fans will say "ok, show me now, Manny" on 8/24, and in their minds it's fair to be skeptical since a coaching search was never conducted, we hired Temple's coach again, hired a first-time coach, and so on. The reasons for abandoning Diaz are already there for whoever wants to embrace them. And you just know these people are ready to pounce.

The fan base is full of mongoloids and trolls who are only interested in their own dumb takes on social media. So, you’re right. There will be plenty of slack-jawed cretins hammering away on their flip phones if we lose. But those imbeciles aren’t UM fans anyway.

is barry still salty about rosen and making up lies about his personality?

You're thinking of Omar Kelly from the Sun Sentinel. That dude always has an agenda. He pumps up the players he likes and makes up negative stories about players he doesn't like.

My dream is for us to blow out the Gators, and then lay down and let them score a walk in touchdown. Pay them back for the flop.

But only after we call a cheap late time out to kick a field goal.

CFB would really hate us then.
Nice dream............I will confirm for you, that they already hate us.......

he has to beat UF otherwise this entire fanbase will have him fired and it would be deserved criticism imo. the jokes will write themselves w a loss

And they would be idiots. I truly think we have every chance to beat Florida but it’s game 1 of his program, takes time to establish culture.

Manny’s tenure here is going to be the greatest rise from the ashes or epic crash and burn stories in recent coaching history.

There ain't gonna be no in-between.
As a long time Hurricane fanatic, it ain't about wins and losses...it is how we play the 60 minutes. We've had some losses where we got screwed and the great teams played with such passion there was no way to criticize them even if they lost. I expect Diaz will bring the passion and effort that we remember as a team takes on the personality of their coach, and Diaz has lots of fire in his belly unlike our last few coaches, Diaz understands the CANE THING!

Think Enos will be the catalyst, along with Baker, to propel the Canes over the top and back to the ACCCG this season. Both have a lot of passion to go along with Diaz and are completely on the same page as our new fearless leader.

It’s ok to be skeptical, just not cynical.

Just best the teams with lesser talent, and things will work out.

I think its dumb as **** to take too much from the result on 8/24. Of course we would all love to beat ufag and we will be bummed if we lose. But that game has basically zero impact on our actual season. As long as we get to charlotte and are at least more competitive vs clemson, the season is a success.

So i look at it only in a positive light. If we beat the turds, it could really propel this team to have a truly special year. But if we lose the opener, we move on and focus on acc play. Not getting to charlotte this season would be a downright disaster, even with all the new moving parts.

Miami fans need a reason to believe things are going to be different. The ultimate goal of winning the division stays intact with a loss but winning is important for TNM's image. It's a special opportunity to change the narrative about Miami and keep us relevant because nobody will care when we win the Coastal, and they shouldn't.

Well said, and I agree 100% with that. But thats exactly why i said i look at the UF game only in a positive light. Meaning, if we win (and I think theres a **** good chance we do) it fuels everything you said above and could prove to be a true launching point for TNM.

But to spin it the other way and and put a bunch of pressure on the opener and make it seem that a bunch of negative would come from losing that game is foolish IMO. They finished the year strong, have experience at qb now, are a preseason top 10 team, consistency in staff and scheme, and the location is much more home game for them than it being neutral. Theres a reason vegas has us as more than 7pt dogs.

Theres no single game on our schedule id rather win than the opener vs those losers. But if we dont get that W, it doesn't in any way mean the sky is falling.
