Never Realized How Little Richt Throws to the RB's

I just went over every game so far this year and we've only thrown to the RB's all of 17 times all year? Against LSU only 2 throws to the RB and they were both completions.
Against SSU we threw 4 passes to the RB's & 3 were completed, Toledo 0 passes found their way to the RB's, FIU 7 passes to RB's with 4 passes completed, N.C. 0 Passes to the RB's but we only threw 12 passes the whole game, and against FSU 4 passes to the RB's & 2 were completed

17 Att - 11 completions? It's a high percentage completion rate why not throw more to the RB's

I love Richt but why not a couple of swing passes to the RB's, especially when you have a QB that's still feeling his way? I get that he may want to avoid the middle of the field especially when we had Rosier back there, I do see a few more passes toward the middle with Perry. But a few easy passes to the RB's?
It's EXACTLY what you should do when they're crowding the box and playing press man coverage.

If we can somehow figure out how to get it blocked longed enough a wheel route to Deejay/Homer out of the backfield is instant 6. **** I would love to see us run one with Lingard or even Choc out of the H-back.

Even the one we ran with Cam vs FIU would've been a TD if there was just a lil more air on the ball.
The only

100% agree with Lingards or Chocs speed this offense would be unstoppable!!!

I love wheel routes. They are so hard to defend.

But for real, we're not throwing to the backs because we're having to keep them in on pass pro. Moving Donaldson back inside and replacing him with a more athletic tackle in Scaife should solve that issue. ND was being beaten so often by speed rushers, we rarely have been able to run pass routes with our backs.
Its things like this that keeps CMR from opening up his playbook. It gets called vanilla sometimes, but its tough to branch out when everyone isn't doing their standard job.

Need to use them more. Against FIU we ran a perfect wheel route. Perry overthrew Davis. It was an easy TD. We also ran a nice one against FSU. This time Perry underthrew Homer. It was still a catch but ruled incomplete.

rb/ fb is usually a check-down in his offense. I saw a really nice catch and run by Choc vs FSU in the flat and it looked designed. I think our FB is a miss-match as it proved vs FSU's lb... hes super fast.

This is it really. We need them to chip a lot. if our tackles could hold their own we would be OK.

TE shovel is one of my personal favorites.

But I agree with you on all points except toss plays to neutralize pass rush. It works, but not when the ends are beating your tackles so badly that they have a 50/50 chance of getting the pitch. Works great against interior rush though.

One play that I'm shocked we haven't seen was Richt's bread and butter Power Toss he ran so much at UGA. look for that to maybe incorporated after the bye when we've had a break to work something in for out new starting QB. We couldn't run it last season because we didn't have a FB, and it's hard to install new play concepts during the season without a break in the action.

Sorry, poor choice of words. By tossing it to the running backs, I meant throwing short passes, not pitch out outside runs, but that was definitely how it read.

Spread the field. Line up five wide with a RB in the slot. Screen options and quick pass options abound. If we can’t run the ball, throw quick passes than can safely get you 3-4 yards.

I agree with you, it will be interesting to see how the offense develops with the bye week now that Perry is established as the starter.

Wheel routes. I love those when we run them, and dread having them run on us. They are deadly. Dalvin Cook running free on wheel routes Jimbo called for him once every damned game we played them, that still gives me nightmares.

I like to throw to the running backs as much as the next guy however the running backs are already getting touches throughout the game and every pass thrown to a running back is one less touch opportunity for a guy like Jeff Thomas. Idk about you guys but I definitely want to get him as many touches as possible, guys electric. Would you trade a running back pass for a pass to Jeff Thomas? I wouldn’t and I’m sure a though process like that is why you are seeing a smaller number of passes to running backs.

This isn't the way to go about thinking of this. Think of the 20 incompletions we have a game reduced to say 10 for this discussion. This won't interfere with playmakers getting less touches if that potential touch is an incompletion more often than not. If anything it gives the WR more opportunities because we'll stay on the field longer and have more overall snaps.

Rich just doesn't run a championship level offense at this point. Dude is old as he'll/ been coaching forever and hasn't evolved. Its obvious that's just who is. He needs to up grade that side of the ball if he truly loves Miami. He'll Syracuse oc / offense is more innovative than the bs rich puts out there with way better athletes.

Our "fans" just suck.

That's because Syracuse has to be innovative if they want to compete in P5 football games.

I guess Richt only throws to RB's when he's playing from behind? Saturday night Homer 3 catches 50 yds., Gray 2 catches 16 yds., DJ 1 catch 11 yds.

Of the 190 passing yds the RB's accounted almost half the yardage? Why won't he incorporate more passes to the RB's?

It's Baffling? While at UGa he displayed the same pattern. 2013 was an anomaly, first I though maybe because he had Murray as the QB and he trusted him more but Murray was his QB in 2012 and 2011. 2011 was a joke, only 22 passes to the RB's.

I wonder if 2013 had anything to do with Wins & Losses?

2015 - 10-3 38 catches 365 yds. 9.8 ypc
2014 - 10-3 37 catches 376 yds. 10 ypc
2013 - 8-5 70 catches 828 yds. 11.8 ypc
2012 - 12-2 27 catches 208 yds. 8.0 ypc
