90% of the idiots trashing 10$ netflix content pay 120$ for cable.

I've been a cord cutter for a long time now...while, for a time early on it was much cheaper to cord cut, it has slowly gotten to the point where now you are likely paying more for cord cutting than cable.

Just to get access to something like Youtube TV, you're paying $70/mo and then once you add up the other a la carte apps like D+ bundle, HBOMax, Netflix plus other stuff you're looking at, you're already at that cable bill, more if you're in deep on the apps and need them "all".

The reality is no one simply has just a Netflix Account...they have Netflix plus all the other **** and its likely a wash now with traditional cable.

Do any of the streaming services have a worthwhile DVR for live games? Meaning I can actually pause without issue during the game.

Netflix content is starting to suck so bad.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve started something on Netflix, watched about 10 minutes and then just shut it off.

I think part of their losing subscribers is that the streaming market is possibly approaching the point of saturation, but I also think part of it is the quality of the products that they are producing.

I’m looking for entertainment usually, or possibly a good documentary that isn’t so entrenched in its politics that it becomes a propaganda vehicle.

But what you normally get with Netflix, are poorly written poorly produced movies, that aren’t creative, and seem almost formulaic.

What’s the last really good thing that you remember seeing on Netflix that was original content?

As far as I can remember, the last really good thing I saw from them was the Ballad of Buster Scruggs, and that was probably at least a couple of years ago. It was quirky, unique, original, entertaining, and funny. But I thinks it’s instructive that’s the one thing I can remember for several years.

Netflix specializes in European films and Trailer Park Boys

Their foreign stuff has been good (i.e. what they have found, bought US rights to, and you can either dub or subtitle). They also did alright with shows that were cancelled by networks and continuing them. They bought the rights to the Harlan Corbin adaptations. Those are not bad. The murder/true crime documentaries get a little old after a while. They need more Black Mirror already.

If you are ok with dubs/subtitles and like more dystopian/sci fi type of stuff, Dark was amazing.

Good lord!!!

Twitter right now is cratering to, it looks like, a four year low. It is down 37%.

The question is where is the entry point.

This may be a good opportunity to make an easy and quick 10%, if you have the nerve.
The board isn't doing a very good job of their fundamental responsibility to maximize the wealth of the shareholders.

That is the business model though. Then they let their algorithm do the work to keep you hooked where you eventually slide into watching all that garbage they put out.

The big issue with subscribers and all that is that the numbers are very wonky and incredibly unreliable. I did a lot of deep dives when WWE Network existed and the numbers were always fugazi and don't take into consideration a lot of factors and they use business language to appease investors but with any critical eye are meaningless nonsense like unique viewers and other stuff that might sound impressive but is not exactly helping turn a profit either...like, for example "we have a billion people watching in India!!" ya, cool, sounds great, but none of them pay for anything so it sounds nice on a quarterly earnings conference call, but they are just hoping you just ignore the stupidity and move on.

If ESPN and a streaming service like Netflix really wanted to help finish off cable, they'd package things up on a school by school basis. ESPN is around $6 a month of everyone's cable bill. Package it up for the school and include every televised game to be sold through a school specific Netflix package for $200 or so a year. ESPN gets their share, Netflix gets their share and the school gets the rest.

I don’t mind foreign movies, or series, as long as they’re well done. And I always listen to them in the original language, if I can, with subtitles. I hate dubbing. But from my perspective and my tastes, they don’t have enough quality content, for what they charge,

Edit: haven’t tried Dark yet, maybe I will later. I watch most of the stuff on planes or when I’m out of town

Thats called gambling, not investing

Of course it’s gambling, in a sense. The only difference is at the end, you still have something. Real gambling, as I see it casino type gambling, is usually an all or nothing deal.

But if I think if I understand what you’re getting at, investing, I think in your definition, is more conservative. Basically, one approach might be using an asset allocation and/or dollar cost averaging method to increase your net worth over time. Irrespective of the investment vehicle.

But there are a lot of ways to look at investing, that’s a **** of a rabbit hole to go down.
