Nesta update from Manny Navarro

This is great news, but by no means would I rush him back. We have enough talented depth to get through September without him and the 2019 dt's will benefit greatly getting reps vs CMU and Bethune. My target for nesta would be friday night vs Uva. I think we can hold up vs Va Tech w/o him.

The best thing might be to rs him..coming off a foot injury he’s not gone be in football shape at all..so that 6 weeks..add a 2 or 3 weeks to that

9 weeks out is Va Tech which is game number 5!!!!! You want to shirt a guy cause he missed 4 out of our 12 games? Haha come on guys. He isn’t redshirting unless he re-injures himself.

listen to the 5 rings cast about the DL. really good info on the depth and where theyre at. well survive out there with how good the DL, as a whole, has looked so far in practices according to them.

Dsddcane said he thought he meant 4 weeks Of the season so he’s right. Which means. 2-3 games and we have 2 bye weeks before September ends
so hes not out for 4 weeks? lol

Great news. Doesn’t appear season ending:

Hope for Silvera

Sophomore defensive tackle Nesta Silvera is expected to be out at least six weeks following surgery to repair his broken right foot, The Athletic learned Friday.

Silvera, who was expected to compete for a starting job in camp before he got hurt near the end of Miami’s first practice last week, would then need to get back in football shape before the Hurricanes put him on the field.

The hope, a team source said Friday, is Silvera will be able to get back on the field before Miami’s five-game homestand from Sept. 14 through Oct. 19 is over.

If he comes back that homestand will tell us if we win the coastal

If fully healed you okay the guy.

If he seems day to day after 6-8 weeks start looking at possible RS year. Very simple stuff.

I’ve heard timelines on surgeries in football for years now and they never seem accurate. It’s always longer than whenever the guy is projected to come back.

RS him. Why not.
You have 4 games to decide to RS or not... no rush... If when he comes back and he still doesn't seem ready then you can RS him but no need now... Just let him recover and get game ready and we'll see then...

If he’s in playing shape let him play. This generation of players don’t want to sit on the sidelines if they are playable they want to get to the NFL & get paid ASAP. If they’re dominant they want to leave early anyway.

He has to be healthy, foot injuries can linger and fester if not given time on the front end. Long season and injuries happen, rather hold him an extra game or 2 (if needed) and have a healthy Nesta than a hobbled version getting limited reps.

If Nesta is the guy we hope/think/pray he is, he wont be around for a 4th season. If he can contribute this season, trot him out there

This kids biggest challenge is Moms cooking cause Cess can flat out bring it!!! Hope he doesn’t blow up weight wise after the surgery.

Six weeks sounds about right - doesn't matter whether you break a bone in your hand or foot - the standard healing time is right about six weeks.

He's gotta take care of it, though - and not break if off in somebody's ***.

Simply see how rehab goes then make a decision. Can't say how many weeks because injuries like his can't be rushed. Gotta be very careful with broken feet because it can become a chronic issue.

Your probably right. Foot injuries on big guys are always tricky situations tho. Hope for the best
