Need some clarification on a call on the field yesterday.

When the review on the field inevitably reversed the fumble recovery by Miami, and called it an incomplete pass from Francois, shouldn't a flag have then been thrown for intentional grounding? There was no receiver around where the ball landed.

Maybe I'm interpreting the rules incorrectly,m?

No. If you start a throwing motion and get hit in the process, they don’t flag you for “intentional” grounding because the defender ****ed you up.

Show me that rule. I understand if the ball is batted down at the line but it's pretty cheap to me you can throw it directly at the ground to keep from fumbling and it's called a pass attempt.
