Need More Diverse Offense

I'm a pro style guy. Nothing else gives you a better option to flip the script when things aren't going your way.

I recognize why it's attractive for UM to move towards a spread, and I respect that opinion, but these offenses evaporate once or twice a year by default.

It won't really matter what we run unless we develop a QB.

Richt hasn't had that chance yet.

Kaaya was inherited and in a rush to be a 6th round pick. Talented, but didn't give it a chance here for year 2.

Rosier is Rosier. We did what we could, but he was also a holdover and I'm not sure how much higher he can push the ceiling. He was coached up to do some nice things.

Malweak Rozier is our handicap.

The fact that Rick is going into his 3rd spring here and Rozier is QB1 is not a good sign.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - if Miami finds an accurate qb, it needs to run an air raid offense. I like Realous George for short yardage and think it will definitely make life simpler on 3rd and short, but if Richt thinks he is going to out SEC the SEC by playing smash mouth football and wearing down teams he is going to come up short every year. He's not going to do that better than Alabama. That doesn't mean we can't beat Bama, just that we won't beat Bama trying to play like Bama. Miami can be physical and still run a fast break offense that averages 55 a game. It also makes life a lot easier on our defense. RPO with near flawless execution will be good for 35-40 a game. That is just not good enough.

bama doesn't even run out of power formations anymore either they are primarily out of the spread too, i think richt just goes with who he has as his personnel, kaaya first year we ran more pro style while this past year we were in the spread all year long, i feel we will go more spread moving forward especially with the kids we are recruiting at QB

what pro styles are winning now a days in football in general though? UGA is a power run team yes but they played a lot in shotgun and in the spread, bama is just about the same, you look at the super bowl with the eagles winning with RPOs and the pats who have been playing with spread formations for awhile, pro style is pretty much dying in the game in general

The Eagles also have a phenomenal offensive line. The Canes do not. It might be good, but definitely not elite. The RPO means the OL has to be outstanding run blockers (since they basically run block every play). Our line is actually much better at pass blocking. IMO a quick strike air raid suits our players much better than the RPO. Air Raid (Briles or Lincoln Riley-style) doesn't mean you don't run the ball, you just run out of spread sets which gives the RB tons of lanes.

I agree with you i was just saying pro style is dying in the sport in general i will take a briles offense here any day

Being in the shotgun or running multiple WR formations doesn't mean you're not running a pro style offense. It is just becomes a tool rather than your philosophy. That's why these offenses evaporate once or twice a year, you can bet on it. As conferences build their defenses to handle spread teams, I am completely OK with being one of the few setup to impose our will and run over them when we're having an off day throwing the ball. That's the Achilles heel of spread teams.
